We went across the highway from the Rest Stop, so we were closer to the road (evidentially those spots are 3/5 miles down the road). There are obvious spots starting pretty close to the highway and more further back. The spots are well defined and most have rock fire rings. Easy to maneuver in and out, some spots make a full circle so getting a large vehicle in and out would be easy. We stayed in the 3rd spot in from the road, traffic was not too distracting and around 4:45am you could hear a train in the distance.

I’ve read all these reviews and everybody keeps saying that if you’re coming from price when you get here, make the left and go past the gate and go down for 5 miles. I can also say that if you want to go to the right, you can also do that when you come to the cattleguard the very first campsite to your right it might be a little tough getting in and maneuvering around but what have you and its level. I go to Oregon quite often and I usually stop somewhere on the way back home and this will be my go to spot from now on.

If you come in late it may be hard to see, so take the first stop past the gate at the rest stop. Otherwise ....keep driving until your wife says #=...there cannot be anything here,,,are you sure you are on the right road Anyhow about two mile in there is a great spot on the right to pull in that is level and right next to the road by about 50 feet. Otherwise there are a ton poof spots from the rest stop to about 3 miles in....just go slow and look for the turnouts right of the gravel road.
PS the Sinclair station in Price is about 30 minutes north and has a free dump station and free potable water

Rather than turning west off highway 6/191 to a rest stop, turn east down Horse Canyon Road. It is well paved and there are numerous sites that branch off. T mobile 2 bar LTE with booster.

I arrived at the water drop of the cows - and yes, there were lots of cows and babies there to greet me. They gave me plenty of space to park. My alarm in the morning was the sweet calling of mom cow to her baby.
Level place, no one else around, very quiet and peaceful. If others were to arrive there is plenty of room.

We have only boondocked a few times in our camper, and we have never used BLM lands before. This was also my first experience using this website and finding us a place to stay. We knew about where we wanted to camp and it was easy to find this place, thanks to this site.
Horse Canyon was so easy to find and to access. We read some of the previous posts and drove about two miles down the paved road to where, looking at the satellite image of the area, there was a V-shaped access road to the right. I stopped there and walked the road, which was not an issue for our setup, which is a 30' travel trailer and a F250. I was able to drive down this access road and then even pull off a little into the small scrub trees.
The ground was firm, with shallow softer sand in some areas. The area was clean but there was quite a bit of broken glass in the area. It was so quiet and I think we were the only ones camping in the area. There was a bit of road traffic on the paved road, but it did not last into the night.
We enjoyed some small hikes in the area whilst we were there, heading up to the top of the canyon for some amazing views. The view of the night sky was worth the stay alone!

Found a great spot with fire rings just off the road up the hill from the rest stop in the trees. Snaked the trailer through the trees to the edge of the drop off.
Able to just barely cast sling TV to chrome cast over t-mobile Hotspot.

Found this place after driving several hours from Colorado, was going to just sleep at the rest stop but then saw this just up the road. Beautiful place for star gazing! Very easy to find and great stay for one night, plus full bars of service! I would’ve stay longer if I wasn’t on a time crunch.
