Most surprisingly, they have done wifi over long distances with repeaters as well as in any public campground I've ever been! Kudos!
On the negative side- no water at the site. I hope west Virginia addresses this here and in their other parks that lack on-site water.
There is very occasional road noise from a highway above, but it's more than outweighed by the beauty and peacefulness of this park.
There's a restaurant on site open certain days, very friendly, caring staff and $6 wood bundles! Buy some fire starter at the main office; it works and is made by handicapped workers.
Visit High Falls and Shoot's Chute, in the park but a 20-min drive.

We were there when the rhododendrons, which are plentiful, were in bloom. Everybody was so nice and the environment was so chill. The restaurant on the premises is completely off the hook it's amazing how far the dollar goes. Some sides have 50 amp power. Pay close attention to the map for that specific detail.

We stayed at Holly River State Park for a long weekend with a couple of friends and our dogs.
The campground has a total of 88 sites but they are divided in sections. Sites 29-38 and 39-48 are closest to the river with some sites being directly on the river, so I would recommend booking one of those.
The sites are decently level, have a fire pit and picnic table and most of them have electric hook ups. A water spigot is available in proximity of most campsites. There are toilets and showers and the campground does offer free WiFi.
The campsites are mostly back-in sites for smaller to medium-sized rigs but there are some bigger sites that can accommodate large rigs.
The state park itself is well-maintained and from the looks of it can be busy during peak seasons but we stayed off-season and had a great time. The Holly River is gorgeous and there are a variety of hiking trails in the state park that can be easily reached by foot from the campground. We would definitely come back here again!

We loved the fact that this park is so remote and peaceful. The campground itself has 5 loops. We were in section 1. The bad and the good, you will be unplugged! There was no verizon signal at all, you have to go to the office to connect to wifi. Everyone working there was very friendly. Bath houses were clean. Hiking trails were nicely maintained and there are at least 5 waterfalls, 3 of which are worth the hike, there were 2 that were just a trickle. Inquire on the best routes to take. We were there on the 4th of July weekend, and it was so quiet! Everyone observed quiet hours! The other negative is that there is only 1 single lane road in and that same road out with no room to pass, and don't get stuck behind someone filling a 100 gallon water tank, like we did! The dump station was behind the section we were in, so it was a bit nerve wracking to be going further into the campground at checkout time, going the wrong way. With that being said, we now know the layout better and can plan ahead, We even are looking to book Again!

Holly River is beautiful; old growth forest with dense canopy cover. Nice stream winds through the park. Electric hookups, two dump stations. Lots of hiking trails. No cell service. Several back in and pull through sites.
