Just a few miles west of LaGrande off I 84. High winds made our decision ez...get off the road. Has a resident host, convenient access; jake-brake trucker noise and RR noise exist but were subtle because the park us banked below I84. Has water but no power; no fires at this time.

While I can't recommend this park as a destination in and of itself, it's a nice place to spend an overnight while passing through the area. Situated adjacent I-84, with a pleasant river flowing through, it's much quieter than one would expect with a major freeway passing within a few hundred yards. There are informational displays about the Oregon Trail, and a decent-sized open area for young ones to get out some energy after a day's traveling. Bathrooms were clean. Not a huge amount of privacy, but at least the gaps between sites are large enough to not feel like you're on top of your neighbours.
Oregon's state park web page bills this as more a layover campground, and it fits that purpose very well. Much more pleasant than a Walmart lot!

Good place to crash if you’re coming late/after dark.

Stayed one night passing through. Very scenic park tucked between 1-84 and Grand Ronde River. Freeway noise is pretty loud. Was able to easily maneuver 30 foot travel trailer into a site in the back. For ten bucks this is a great stopover site.

In The Morning It Was A Beautiful Spot Right Near A Small River/ Creek. Traffic From The Highway Is Overhead, But It Isn’t Too Loud To Keep You Up. The Campground Hosts Are Older And As Someone Who Has Been To Many Grounds Similar- They Weren’t The Best. Asked Us Three Times If We Paid For Our Spot, While We Were On Our Way To And From The Bathroom, Granting The Hosts Camper Was Parked A Spot Away From Us. I Felt They Could’ve Checked My Site Pole Instead Of Asking So Many Times, Host Was Awkward And Provided Bad Small Talk, Definitely Not The Job For Them.

If you have a large rig and are not skilled at backing up I would not recommend this location just due to size/space but that’s the only reason. Also has trash which was an added plus!

We stopped here with our 38’ fifth wheel for one overnight. It is a peaceful, well maintained dry camping campground with running water bathrooms (no showers) right on the river. The camp host was friendly and the only other camper there. Two families of geese wandered around our site and paddled in the river. The sites were a bit short since we didn’t want to unhook but we squeezed in by cocking the truck on an angle. I think any rig under 43-45’ could fit no problem. All sites were back in. There was some road noise but it wasn’t bothersome. We would stay again and even stay longer if we could.

Campers kept to themselves, but not much privacy between sites. Had a neighborhood feel and did feel safe. Highway noise didn’t bother us. Didn’t notice long-time campers, though someone had left an old bed frame and seats from a car. This was removed by state park staff the next morning we were there.
Every site has a picnic table and fire ring.

Crashed for the night on the way home. Got in late and left early. Site is a nice place by the river, but close to freeway. Also, we had a few rundown campers as neighbors, but for the purpose of some sleep and a sunny morning by a stream, it is a good site.
