This was a "nice for the price" sort of place. It's primitive camping four miles down a dirt road on the banks of Lake Talquin. The only facilities are toilets that I didn't inspect. I was the only camper in the campground for 3 of the 4 days I was there. The majority of the traffic coming in and out of the park was boaters coming to use the ramp, fishers coming for the pier, and the occasional Forestry Department employee. Most of the time I was completely alone. It was quiet and serene. The campground is located just off of the Great Florida Birding Trail and there were hundreds of birds in the park. Every morning I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping.
On Saturday night a few other campers showed up, but they were quiet and kept to themselves. I think this campground mostly caters to tent campers, as the sites are very small and difficult to maneuver into. Of the 30-something sites, I saw about 12 that would accommodate ~25 feet and 4-5 that would accommodate something larger (maybe up to 35-40 feet). The sites are all very close together with little/no privacy between.
If you like fishing or boating or need easy access to Tallahassee, this is a great, affordable place to stay.
cheesygoons would stay here again
