If you find yourself in this area, it's a decent place to stay as long as you do not need the bathhouse. The staff is phenomenal! Very helpful, kind, and personable. The sites are pretty tight and oddly angled with smaller than ideal pads, but our site was still manageable. Spray for ants if you plan on staying for any length of time! We had ants climbing our water, power, and septic finding their way into the camper. The bathhouse was dated and well worn, which isn't a deal breaker here... but the level of cleanliness leaves much to be desired. There is a huge influx of day traffic during the fishing tournaments, and I think the bathhouse is the only public restroom facility in the park. Maybe those conditions make it difficult for staff to properly tend the facilities during some days, but it can get quite gross in there. Luckily we did not need to use them much! The view is beautiful. Amazing new playground equipment if you had kids! There is a swimming area and multiple docks for fishing. Again, the staff was great and I would return if we were in the area again.

While the staff was super nice and friendly the two choices I was offered for one night passing thru were HORRIBLE! I called ahead and asked if anything was available for one night as I'm passing thru and did NOT want to unhook, was told yes. They met us in side by side and proceeded to take us to the top of a small hill and pointed to two pads up there that not only are slopping down but also canted to the right and not wide enough, they look like they were poured in 1970 and tiny. It took me 15 minutes just to get both sides of my tires on the pad after dodging tree stumps and full timers vehicles in the way and even then some of my tread was hanging off WE LEFT...Never again!
I say all this simply to warn other campers (just passing thru) as I have nothing against the staff as they tried but these two spots were horrible, even if I had leveled one side of my camper if we had remained hooked the front of my camper would have had far too much pitch up if we had remained hooked up which was the point. Lots of other spots around but from the look they were taken up by full timers that appear to either live or at least leave campers here year around. Wasted 12 minutes in to reach this place, 20 minutes TRYING to maneuver my camper on this horrible pad and then another 12 minutes back to interstate. Drove another 50 minutes N and stayed at Birmingham RV South, $8 more per night but in a spot in 4 minutes.

This is an older county park and it looks a bit run down with sites close together. But sites have electricity and water, the showers have hot water and it’s not at all crowded now. I have 2 bars on Verizon.

It was a good experience. We were up on the hill with 10 or so other sites packed together pretty tightly. We were between two sites that were occupied with smallish travel trailers, but no signs of life or activity in them. Price is up to $30 now with full hook ups. Convenient location on Lake Mitchell and about 10 minutes from I-65 at Exit 208. Call ahead and on-site ranger is super helpful and friendly. New playground. Sunday worship in pavilion by boat ramp (Memorial Day through Labor Day is what I overheard).
