“large campsites, rough access road”

This campground has the largest campsites in the valley but is also the most difficult to get to. Most sites are double wide and large enough for almost any RV. But 20+ miles of rough dirt road make the drive extremely difficult so most folks may want to think twice before venturing up here. In my 4Runner, no trailer, it takes me over an hour to make the drive from the end of the paved road at Natural Bridge Falls to Hick's Park CG. Even with the difficult access the camp can still be full during the summer weekends. If you're towing an RV I would suggest scouting out the area without the trailer first.
The campsites are nice, not heavily used so tables and fire rings are in good condition. Two pit toilets in camp - the locks on the doors were not working during my last visit so be courteous and knock first! No garbage service and the water pump was not in service so plan on bringing all of your drinking water. The Boulder River is just a short walk from all of the campsites.
As with the rest of the campgrounds in the area, there is no camp host on duty but the Sweetgrass County Sheriffs make regular patrols through the area so don't be alarmed if you see one driving through and taking note of your license plate number. There was an issue with vandalism a few years back and since the Forest Service does not have a local office the Sheriff's department stepped up to keep an eye on things.
