I have seen a couple of reviews that say that potable water is available but its not possible to fill an RV's fresh water tank. What is the problem with the water? Does it take a special connector?

As the others said, the spigot is a weird one. We filled up buckets

You cannot attach a hose to the spigots. We filled up fresh water and dumped tanks for a small fee at a gas station a couple miles north.

If I remember correctly, the spigot is bit threaded and you have to hold the faucet handle so it makes it very difficult to fill large quantities
