It's quiet, and each of the 10 campsites are easy to find. There is no hookup, but each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Most smaller rigs won't have a problem, and we saw several cars on the narrow and rough gravel road. We look forward to exploring the miles of trails on this park.

Interesting to get to: 13 miles off the interstate on 2 lanes to 1 lane to gravel road (about last 1/4+ mile). Parking area is a wide place on the gravel road. Beautiful scenery. Quiet, although a car or truck went by every 10-20 minutes during the day. AT&T was 1 bar LTE.

We were in the area to see some of the local attractions so we decided to stay here after finding it on Campendium.
First of all, I have to state the positive. It was a beautiful area. The campsites were free of trash and well maintained. The road to the park itself was questionable so be careful! but inside the park, everything was well laid out and marked. We would have loved to be able to explore some of the area and hiking trails as there were plenty, however our trip was cut short..
As we were coming back after a long day, we noticed that our campsite was disturbed. When we walked up on it, we realized that somebody had been in the process of ransacking our trailer and tent. They pried all of the locks off of our trailer, stole our propane tank and water system, and had gotten started on stealing the grill. We think that we spooked them because shortly after we got there, we heard a truck go peeling out nearby. A similar sounding truck (no muffler) had been going up and down the trails late the night before and early that morning, but at the time we just figured it was local kids.
All in all, I would have loved to give this campsite a better review but we left in a hurry as we did not feel safe at all. If I was a local, I would definitely come back to hike the trails and do some exploring, but unfortunately we drove in from Mississippi.

Lovely park, no designated area for RV’s. However I spoke with the owner before our stay via FB and he said it was fine and we parked at the main entrance which was secluded. Road was questionable coming in but we made it with a 33ft class A. Great hiking trails and explored the original homestead.

“OVERNIGHT CAMPING SUSPENDED AT HARTIG PARK”
noted 8/7/2024
All overnight camping at Hartig Park has been put on "pause" beginning September 3rd, 2024 and ending on April 1st, 2025. This pause in camping will allow the county to make changes that will hopefully improve the comfort and safety of future campers.
