Must have changed hands and now caters to full timers. Too many health and safety concerns to list. The store is no longer stocked and the photos in no way depict today’s conditions. Drive on by and do not go out of your way to stay here.

I cannot believe this place got a high rating. It is one of the worst places we have ever stayed. Thank goodness we only booked one night. This place is depressing. The only good thing I will say is it is not crowded and our pull through spot was level. No way would I get in that pool. This place is just old and worn out.

Cheesy as its name would suggest, this ratty, old, poorly-maintained RV park in NO WAY merits its 5 star rating on Campendium; sorry we were misled by it. We were in site 80 in the very back of the park with lots of big rigs; our view was of an ugly earth scar, backhoes and excavators where they’re expanding the park. Site 80 was 3” off level with a warped old wooden picnic table. Closer to the park’s entrance, there’s evidence of where straight-line winds sheered down a number of giant trees that remain felled near the tent camping area. There’s one overflowing dumpster in this same area- presumably serving the entire campground. The showers, near the office, smelled faintly of mildew. The highway noise is loud. Everything, including the “cement pond” looks like it was built in the era of Gunsmoke. Not cute, just kitschy.
Sadly, I’m going to strongly disagree with many other reviewers. This was the worst full-hookup campground we’ve experienced in 3 years of traveling😩

Spacious, gravel sites and clean. Besides the train that passes by once in awhile, it’s a good rv campground for a couple nights. Clean bathhouse.

This is a nice location just west of Dodge City. Only a few minutes from Front Street and the Boot Hill museum. Cell coverage from AT&T is good - 3 bars and the WiFi coverage is good

I will get the two small negatives out of the way first. There are train tracks right across the road and it's a horn intersection, so you will hear the horns with fair regularity during the day, but they are fewer during the evening and overnight. The park has no control over the trains, obviously, but I feel they should be mentioned because it’s a sticking point for many people. The other negative is that we only found one dumpster on the property, and one half of its lid was smushed down into the dumpster making it hard to get our trash in when it was full. This isn’t high season, so there are likely more dumpsters when it is.
Now, the good stuff. We have a 35' TT and a 21' truck. The pull-thru sites are level gravel, made from crushed cement, I think. They're very long and plenty wide. We easily park the truck nose-to-tail with the trailer and still have a ton of room front and back. Each site has a nice picnic table and small cement square with an embedded eye hook where you can do your grilling and leash your dog. There are lots trees on the property, so I would imagine it's quite nice in high season. Right now there are many nests with birds sitting on eggs, and even a couple of hanging nests (weaver birds, maybe?) though there are no leaves on the trees yet. Bunnies galore at night! ❤️
The 30amp service works well, we've had no issues. Water pressure is really good and the water smells and nice and clean. Not all parks can say that!! Sewer hook up works as it should. No complaints.
The laundry room is clean. Four top-loading washers, $2/load, that filled with lightning speed. Four dryers, load starts at $.25 and time is added with each quarter. One dryer is currently out of order. Quarters can be purchased in the office.
The shower rooms (the women's, anyway, never saw the men's) are clean and tidy. Three stalls, three showers. Great water pressure in the showers, and the water seems soft. There's plenty of room to move, and two shelf spaces for your soap and shampoo. Each shower has at least 5 hooks, and each has a little bench to set your stuff on. Those are important things!!
An access code is required for the laundry, showers and park gate (after 9pm). There is no cable but that is not an issue for us. The Wi-Fi is the best we've seen yet, for strength and speed. Currently there are about 16 long term trailers, and 5 of us weekly/daily trailers. Whether that has any bearing on the Wi-FI, I don't know, but what is usually a big fat headache hasn't once been a problem here.
We met Mr Owner the day we arrived. Very nice guy. Haven't seen him since because he's been busy, busy, busy. The park is being expanded, so there's a lot of heavy equipment and such near the back of the park (close enough that we can watch the side-dump trucks haul away ton after ton of dirt from the expansion area). It hasn't been bothersome, oddly. They start at a decent hour and finish by 5:00pm.
I guess the highest praise anyone can give a park is to say they'd be happy to come back. We would!!

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in site #96, a FHU PT site for $48/night. The roads and sites were both gravel. Sites were level and had a wide grassy area between them. No fire pits or grills. Picnic tables have seen better days. It was easy to navigate through the park and there was plenty of room on the PT to disconnect and park the truck. There were three different choices of spots to hook up your sewer which was really helpful. Most sites have trees between them for shade later in the year. My site had a newly planted tree so not much help there. There was some road noise and I heard a train once or twice. The wind drowned out the sounds a great deal of the time. There were long periods of high wind alerts and red flag alerts. There was a bathroom and shower up by the office and pool, not really convenient for the rigs parked in the main area. The bathrooms are older, but they have tried to brighten them up with paint. More importantly, they were clean. The laundry was clean with 4 each washers and dryers. $2 for a wash and $.25 for 10 minutes of drying. 4 bars LTE with Verizon, weak wifi, and several OTA channels. The person at the desk was very nice which helped make this a nice spot to stay at while visiting Dodge City. If I was going to stay there again I would ask for a spot closer to the grove of trees to help protect the rig from the wind.

Gravel level pad, as most have been lately, & will probably continue to be. We’re in the back, where sites are generously spread out. Absolutely outstanding internet. I have dinged many destination resorts for this amenity’s mediocrity. This perk bumps a rating of an ‘8’ to a ‘9’, which rounds up to excellent.

WARNING!!! TERRIBLY RUDE OWNER’S RUNNING A 70’s OUTDATED CAMPGROUND!!! Before I do my review here, I want to point out that we own a small Toy Poodle and are very conscience of our dogs bio footprint in the environment and always pick up after he uses the bathroom. So here is our experience that really upset our family and my in-laws. I was walking my dog to the grass area and noticed my dog was wanting to go to the bathroom on the gravel. I pulled my dog quickly over to the grass area and picked up his waste to throw away. Little did I realize my dog had dropped a piece of poop before getting to the grass, I didn’t see it but the owner said he watched us and saw my dog poop in the gravel without me picking it up. I returned to my camper and 15 min later I receive a knock at my door and the owner tells me that I left my dogs poop and here it is. He slammed his shovel against the gravel on the ground, dropping a ping ball size poop on my front steps. I felt really bad that I didn’t see it and apologized but as soon as I did the owner tells me this is my first and only warning, if it happens again then we’ll be gone! We apologized a second time and the owner just stared at us angrily and walked away without acknowledging the apology or saying anything further. Me, my wife, my son and my mother and father in-law were jaw dropping shocked. We had stayed here several times before, made this our campground of choice in Dodge City when ever we visit and we’ve never had any issues. We pay good money to stay in their campground every year so a little bit of couth goes a long way in customer service. I was mortified that anyone who owns a campground would talk to someone and threaten to kick them out because of an honest and rather minor mistake. All he had to do was stop by and tell me he saw my dog poop in the road and to please double check your dog while walking him.
What further put salt in the womb is when me and my wife went to the front desk to sign in from the night before and we confronted the owner that we didn’t know that our dog had pooped on the lot and again apologized. We then told him that all he had to do was be nice about it and he responded, “I was nice about it”. We argued politely for a minute that he was not nice and there’s no reason to talk to us like we’re little children. We finally gave up rationalizing with him and left.
All over town and in front of their campground it’s advertised that their campground is for sale so maybe he’s having a very bad morning or there’s some added stress because their campground is for sale or maybe it’s the “I don’t care” attitude now but one thing is for sure, my family and my in-laws will never make this our weekend home for our mini vacations anymore.
My advise is go to the brand new KOA campground right up the street where they don’t treat the customers like this, who actually care how they treat their customers. Plus it’s a heck of a lot nicer with concrete pads, new and very nice facilities.
GunSmoke campground is very noisy because of the highway it sits right up against with very crowded campsites on the front half of the campground. They show pictures on the internet of the rear newer addition but not the crowed older section.
