The sites are widely spaced, all with full hookups. November is the off season with some shops and restaurants closed. More close during December but the campground was full.
With almost 500 sites, it is a big park. But the sites are well laid out so it doesn't feel crowded.

The first thing that struck us about our campsite was the huge amount of space between us and our next-door neighbors. Sites have concrete pads with grass around them, and lots of elbow room. Very forested and natural (there was a rabbit at our site when we pulled in), but with enough open sky that Starlink had no problem getting a signal. Pad was one of the most level we’ve had at 73 campgrounds this year. Water pressure was good. Site was very clean, as was the whole park.
We only stayed a week, but would love to have stayed longer, and will definitely return. There is SO much to do here, all of it wonderfully natural (biking, hiking, even attended an outdoor concert at the campground). Of all the campgrounds we’ve been in this year, this one definitely has that laid-back “camping” feel to it, and a genuine sense of community. And it's incredibly quiet at night!

We were only able to get 2 nights in a row (without having to sitehop) here and reason is - they allow long term stays in the winter. Wow! I can see why people would want to book a few months here. Our site was a long back in with the sewer too far forward (so we just dumped on our way out of the site) and at trail and a service road / trail behind us. Wasn't super impressed with the site at first as we were on the main road and there were cars & trucks going by constantly. And not slow either... but then I walked some of the trails - fabulous! The beach is gorgeous! The boardwalk trail was awesome - saw turtles, an armadillo, an alligator & two bald eagles in a tree. Having a bike here would be great. Nature Center was awesome and staff in check in & Nature Center very nice! The waterfront sites are very nice & far enough apart.

Nice Park It’s Big We Lucked Out And Got Site 474 ( right across from the boardwalk to the Gulf) Because Of a Cancellation Otherwise Would Have Been Stuck In Site 404 At The Very Back Of The Park, bathrooms adequate showers stalls way too small. Was only there 3 days so didn’t have time to use all the amenities.

Nice, big campsites, wifi faster than at home, pools, pickleball, tv reception, restaurant and good weather. The washrooms are clean and nice, and good showers too.
It’s just really nice to have a break.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was from the road noise. That would quiet down at night. Also so many taxes tacked onto the base price including resort fees. However, with that being said, we would definitely come back. Trails galore! There is a swimming pool, tennis courts, etc. Sites are well spaced and very clean. They do have someone at the gate house 24/7. Gulf State Park has free bikes to use. Need an app to use them. Beaches are amazing. Not a perfect campground, but close!

Heads up on cost: a weekend (Saturday, Sunday) will cost you $143 as of Feb. 2024. The base cost is $50 or $55 depending on day of week, but they charge 31.5% taxes plus the reservation fee. Buyer beware!!
