There is not an off leash area within the campgrounds but there is one just outside the camping area. It is a fenced space along side of Lake Shelby that let's the dogs play in the water. I think that is still part of the state park. Unfortunately they no longer allow dogs on the beach, a few lazy owners failled to clean up after their pets.

Yes, it’s not beach front, but there is water for them to access. I don’t think it’s actually in the park, just outside of it.

I don't remember. I don't think dogs are allowed off-leash on the beach but they may be allowed on the trails network system. there is a freshwater lake - Shelby Lake - on the grounds, and a designated pet area. It is better for the dogs to swim in fresh water and run aground on the grass. The last time we were there, the parking area was roped off.
