Gilbert Ray is on a plateau west of Tucson and has nice views looking west over the valley. Sites in A Loop have some privacy between campers. Many of the sites seem tight with not much extra space. Our site- A73– was designated a 28’ site and we were able to back in our 27’ trailer into the site but there was a large Prickly Pear cactus plant right in the middle of the back end of the site which meant our trailer door and the tailgate of the truck opened right onto the cactus. It seemed like that cactus could have been removed when the site was graded. So beware of unexpected obstacles on the sites. Overall it’s a nice campground. Quiet. Well maintained. A good 20 + min drive to west side of Tucson and grocery stores.

We are going back at the end of March to see the flowers in bloom.

We loved this campground so much! Sites are a little smaller and no water hookup but the views and park were incredible. Everyone was extremely friendly!

We loved this cg so much we asked about being hosts here! Just beautiful scenery, the views of the desert can't be beat. The sunsets and sunrises, well, there are no words.
Clean, quiet, pretty level gravel sites with picnic tables. Bathrooms are open, no showers. Nice dump area and potable water everywhere throughout the park.

Great spot with beautiful desert and mountain views. Level gravel area with electric and water off a paved loop road . Dumping station, trash, and recycling available. Was surprised at how quiet it became after dark considering how full it was and how close together the sites were. Lots of trails nearby and just a 10 minute drive to Saguaro National Park. Unfortunately RVs are not allowed on the Bajada scenic loop road. We will definitely come back when we can spend more time exploring the area. As newbies, we were informed by locals to bring led lights for under the engine and chassis next time to prevent pack rats from causing significant damage to the wires.

There are plenty of trails for walking, hiking and running through this beautiful part of the desert.
I will definitely stay here again.

Sizes of sites available online. There is a dump station with 2 dumps. Potable water also located nearby. Dumpsters & water spigots conveniently located throughout park. They do have an area for recycling near check in. Bathrooms available, but sis not use. Electricity at site (breaker box not at site, just an outlet). Good Verizon signal, able to text, call, and stream videos. Able to watch TV with over the air signal. Hosts do a good job. A camper left their two large dogs outside on toy hauler all afternoon while they left the campground (even though it’s against the rules). Dogs barked constantly for hours. Hosts did leave a note at campers site, and waited until they returned to speak to them. Hosts followed up with other campers nearby to site to keep people updated. The dogs were not an issue the rest of the stay, and were never left unattended outside again.

What a nice campground. Very quiet, wide open night skies and lots of trails around. There are good large sites especially in A loop. Bathrooms are clean and a nice way to extend our tanks as the dump and water fill are central to the campground. There are water faucets between every 3 or 4 sites. They have only been taking reservations (loops A-C) for a year max stay of 7 days and their website is difficult to navigate. Loop H is first come no reservations. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in C Loop which is the smaller of all and we liked it. Electrical hook up but no water. Luckily we had a spigot next to our site so we could fill up gallons of water if need be. The sites are close but not too bad.
