This KOA is very nice with a lot amenities! Lazy river is pretty cool. More updates seem to be coming as KOA updates the park. Check in was super easy. Our site was 310-perfect for anyone with a back patio to watch the sunset or just chill. Not crowded like sardines, concrete pads. Park location is away from the bustle of touristy areas. We appreciated the text updates that kept us informed on any news about the park, that was nice! The staff were great and accommodating. Park was clean, well kept, and mostly quiet.
We stayed a month-our first time in Galveston. March brought us winds as much as 30mph. The sand is fine and it didn't take much wind to blow it all around. Mind your electric plugs and connectors as our truck connector for the 5th wheel was filled with sand. Luckily we were able to clean it and see that the 5th wheel was connected via our truck's trailering display. Awnings never came out. Mosquitos around 3:30-4 everyday. Ironman bicycle race shut the bridge by park down until 1 o'clock. Had to wait to get off island to go to Houston (line to other route out was jammed with traffic. Not sure if this race is every March.)
Overall this is a good park and recommend it, especially for families! Lots of things to do either at the park or locally.

This is a nice RV park that was well laid out when built, and it seems they are continuing that as they expand the number of sites. Note that we were there during the transition from the Galveston Island RV Resort to the Galveston Island KOA. So, there's no telling what KOA might do regarding prices, amenities, policies, etc. Therefore, our review is based on the structure and layout of the park.
We found the sites to be large with plenty of room in between rigs compared to many RV parks, including most of the others on Galveston Island. There is electric (50- and 30-amp), water, and sewer on each site. Many of the sites are pull-throughs. The ones along the outside rows are back-in sites but have the advantage of no roads or neighbors behind you.
The roads through the park are nice and wide, so there is plenty of room to maneuver large rigs.
The bathroom facilities are decent; reminiscent of residential bathrooms. It's nice that there are 4 bathrooms with showers and they are unisex. We never ended up waiting. Plenty of hot water, although pressure from the older showerheads seemed lacking at times.
The laundry room was clean and the machines worked reasonably well. There were 5 washers and 5 dryers available (when they were all working).
The location could be good or bad depending on your priorities. It's an easy walk across the road to the beach to reach the Gulf of Mexico and the beach stretches for miles. It's also quieter in this area because you are on the west end and not near the city. However, that could be a downside for some folks. It's a solid 20-minute drive to get to town for restaurants, tourist attractions, etc. That may seem long if you want to go in and out of the city a lot, and it's too far to bike it or walk it, so you have to have a vehicle to drive into town with. There are gas stations and a small grocery store within a few miles.
As I mentioned, this is now a KOA, so I don't know what they're going to do with the pool, hot tub, and lazy river. (All three were closed while we were there in February, so can't really comment much on them.) A KOA representative told us they are looking at adding a playground to the park.
If it had not been bought by KOA, we would have gone back here whenever we are in the Galveston area. Until we see what KOA does with their rates and policies, we simply don't know if we will return.
Regarding pricing, note that we paid the monthly rate, which is discounted from their usual daily rates.

It’s located at the western end of Galveston Island so it’s a bit out of the way if you want to explore town, but it’s also a quiet location with only a few beach houses nearby. Which we really liked.
The resort includes a number of very nice amenities including a pool, lazy river, pickle ball courts, basketball net and horseshoes. The office building has a laundry room, community room— which was closed to visitors due to Covid-19 and four large showers rooms. You can also buy ice, ice cream, beer, pina coladas, and margaritas at the office. We may have bought more margaritas than we will admit because they were surprisingly good.
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. You can receive packages (but not regular mail) at the resort and they will usually deliver it to your site, unless the park is full, then they will notify you to come collect your package from the office.
The biggest downside to the park was connectivity. We had issues staying connected for work which was partly poor cell signal (one bar on AT&T) but may also have been interference due to the number of wi-if signals from the rigs around us
We stayed here for the Xscapers Winter Basecamp so we were here for two months. We would definitely stay here again

This is a very nice RV park, all sites are very level concrete pads with picnic tables and grills, also lots of space between you and your neighbor. The main drawback to this place is the location, it is about 25 minutes from Galveston and about the same distance to Surfside . The only other thing was the “high speed” internet service that will cost you and extra $14.00 per day which is a little ridiculous given that the equipment needed and the service has dropped greatly in price in recent years. It’s not worth the extra money, it is neither fast or reliable it would not work for us more than 2 or 3 minutes without going down for 2 or 3 minutes. Using my phone for a hotspot was about 100 times faster than the “high speed” internet.
The guy that worked the office while we were there was not very friendly and acted like we disturbed him because we were checking in and wanted to make sure we read and followed all of the rules.
They do have a fenced dog park which is always nice to let our dog off leash to run a little.
I would stay here again if I was wanting a place to stay and didn’t want to go into Galveston or Surfside on a regular basis. Beach access was easy but a little bit of a walk, I would recommend a wagon or something to put your beach stuff on if you were walking to the beach. If you stay up at the front there is a little highway noise, but not as much as other places we've stayed.

This is a very, very nice park, clean and well-kept, with generously-sized, level concrete pads and plenty of room between the sites. Neither my husband or I took in the pool, hot tub, or lazy river, but they looked popular and well-tended. Staff was very friendly at check-in, and we even got a nice thank-you email after our departure. Wi-fi was loud and strong, and only a few periods of slowdowns. The park is close to the beach, and far enough from Galveston proper that it wasn't at all crowded. Yes, it's a little far from a grocery store, so plan ahead. But frankly, "farther from civilization, but still civilized" was exactly what we were looking for--and Galveston Island RV Resort fit the bill perfectly!

And if you use the online booking you will save money. If you call the front office I was told the rates can be higher.

This is a clean, nice looking park. The office is in the back of the park up some stairs. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. They have frozen “adult” beverages for sale which they were excited to tell us about. All sites and interior roads are paved. Water does puddle, especially in the interior roads, and the road never dried while we there despite several days without rain. Sites are long and wide. We were able to park the car beside the motorhome. Our site was very level but we saw a couple where the wheels were barely touching. On the bright side, most appeared level. Sites are about 15 feet apart with a strip of grass and sometimes a small palm tree. There is no shade. We were on the second row near the front and had a slim view of the gulf between houses – if we looked out the right window :) It is pretty quiet at night but lots of traffic noise during the day. Beach access is just down the road, and the beach is not that busy. Directv worked fine, and they also have cable. Verizon was 4g 5 bars. The WII FI didn’t work – we could connect but almost immediately got kicked off. We used the hot spots on our phones. There are beautiful Victorian houses on the Tree Sculpture tour which we didn’t expect in Galveston. The Tree Sculpture tour is kind of interesting. There are lots of touristy things to do and touristy restaurants but also a lot of local restaurants. Note: The park is building new sites, and there is construction noise. More apparent in some of the back-in sites that are right by it.

We stayed for 2 weeks in April. Very well kept park across from the beach. Nice pull through site with concrete slab. Nice pool.
Area is a about a 20-25 minute drive from downtown Galveston but that also keeps it quiet. Great to drive on to the beach and have your own space.
