I decided to stop here for the night after making a stop to get food. At first we were going to stay at the flying J truck stop but, there was far too much light to sleep. I’m not saying a well light place isn’t good but I can’t sleep with to much light in my face.. you can definitely tell there are people that stay here well past the ... more

I’m not saying a well light place isn’t good but I can’t sleep with to much light in my face.. you can definitely tell there are people that stay here well past the 12 hr limit. I think it’s cool as long as they aren’t gonna mess it up for the rest of us who travel full time.

This place has a great back area with other people car camping or with their rv's or campers. It is quiet and pretty green. They do a good job with trash and the bathrooms are clean. It was nicer and more in nature than other rv/campsites that cost money to stay there.

This is a HUGE rest stop
Lots of truckers use it to rest overnight
Being close to Portland it seemed like there was a large population living out of their cars that parked here regularly
A couple had stoves out of their hatchback, couple were drying clothes on their cars
Will do in a pinch for a short overnight free rest stop

The parking lot here is HUGE. It continues to go back behind the buildings so keep driving. The restrooms were clean and grounds were clean. Pretty sure there’s several people who sleep in their cars here yearround and had some people outside the restrooms with signs for help/money but didn’t pester anyone. Plenty of room for cars, rvs, vans, trucks. Lots of trees and shade. Verizon varies between two and four bars. By Oregon law you can stay 12 hours in 24 hour period.

Great FREE overnight parking. We’ve stayed in both the North and Southbound sides of the French Prairie rest stop near Aurora, OR. Signs indicate a 12 hour maximum stay. These are HUGE rest stops that have additional parking areas in the rear that are perfect for an overnight. While there is always the chance of a semi idling nearby, the “additional parking” areas are far enough away from the interstate that road noise is barely noticeable. There are areas with large trees and an open field to run the doggies. There are multiple bathroom stations and picnic areas. The Northbound side is a adjacent to a very large solar collection facility with interesting interpretive signs. We’ve honestly stayed in campgrounds that were far less attractive with more road noise and you can’t beat the price!
