The mornings are quite lovely but the wind does pick up by 10 or so and then it usually windy the rest of the day. Great dark sky viewing as long as there isn’t a full moon lighting up the sky!
There were tracks for ATVs and the ranger said it does get a little busy during the season.

I work remotely and greatly appreciated the Verizon service here for my hotspot. I loved that I had the whole space to myself and my dog. Biggest issues were wind and dirt / dust. Overall good spot though! Especially since it was free.

We wanted to experience Fossil Falls Dry Lake Bed just for a night on our way north. The reviews were good and we were interested. But it wasn’t mentioned that part of the dirt road is actually deep black sand. Had to call a tow truck to get out!

There were a couple other people here at one point but I never heard or noticed anyone unless I got out and looked around and tried to see another car in the far far distance. It is so gorgeous and unique. It’s very windy there’s no wind fall. And there’s definitely some large mammals of some sort that were digging very large holes in the ground and crushing the brush for their beds where they were laying right behind my trailer. I did hear a couple grunting sounds to but I just cannot tell what kind of animal it was. It’s not hoofed, the prints had toes. But I only saw one rabbit and no other creatures during the day. The Cell service was as described by everyone else, very good. I could teach online easily. I got lost trying to leave though so make sure you know where you’re going if you Arrive in the middle of the night like I did.

Internet is amazing on all three. I could easily work from here for weeks at a time.

I had no problem driving my Sentra at least a Mike and a half back on Cinder road then the dry lake bed is totally fine to drive in for anything.

Good spot for an overnight stop. Some parts are very silty and dusty. It was nice and quiet. We arrived in the dark and easily set up and slept with a blanket of stars and a beautiful sunrise...and close to the hwy to hop back on and carry on!

Stayed for a week and had one really amazing day, the rest were battling extremely strong winds, nothing you want to be outside hanging in. We arrived at our next spot completely covered in dirt, still cleaning it out of the trailer. That being said, the good day really out weighed the bad. It was probably the best day camping yet. The weather was perfect, no bugs at all, no wild life except for some lizards and birds. Totally peaceful. We had about three neighbors the entire time, but spaced a few football fields away. No problem getting in and out at all with a 34 foot travel trailer. Inyokern is the closest town, but there isn't much going on there, a few antique shops, and a restaurant with some decent tacos. Ridgecrest is definitely the bigger town, with the laundromat and grocery stores in close proximity. You can also dump in Ridgecrest. Great spot, just check the weather!

We stayed over night on the lake bed heading from Death Valley over to Sequoia. After leaving the paved road, you have a few hundred yards on a hard packed, but bumpy road in.
Once down on the lake bed, you pick where you want to call home! The night we stayed, there were a few folks closer to the front but once we got passed there we couldn’t see another soul for as far as the eye could see.
The lake bed itself is extremely hard packed, it’s as hard as concrete in most sections. Our 36’ fifth wheel hardly made any impressions in the lake bed. Once the sun began setting, we were treated to a brilliant night sky.
Highly recommended if you’re in the area and looking for a place to rest!
