The natural features of this campground are lovely: a gentle winding stream with kayakers going by, majestic pines, beautiful setting... but whoever built this campground inexplicably shoved all the sites into a spot fit for really 2 or 3... I've camped my whole almost 40 years of life and never have I been so packed into an area... where you can hear campers in other tents snoring. Yikes! There was plenty of room on the road loop to spread out the sites.
Campers were loud until 2 am. Camping with kids and the aforementioned sardine-like nature of the campground made us leave a night early... even though we had already paid a steep price for a third night. But we couldn't bear to stay another night in those conditions.
Speaking of price.... I've never paid so much money for so little. We normally camp for free-$15. This was $30 a night (for out of state campers, which included the entrance fee) and there was only a pit toilet. All in all, it was the worst camping experience we've ever had, but only because of human engineering and planning. God did a good job at making that spot. Just disappointed! It has so much potential.

This state forest campground is on the boardman river which is an excellent trout river. The 9 sites are crammed into an area where there should be about 5, so its tight. Great place depending on your neighbors. It was quiet for us but has the potential to be a party zone. It is first come first served but there are other camps nearby so worth the trip out to get a site. Definitely bring a kayak.
T.Ray would stay here again

Okay, but there are better choices nearby, if you aren't interested in being on the lake.
