My friend and I stayed a week and enjoyed the views. It was quite except the cow lol. Camp Verde has a grocery store, laundromat and car wash all within 20 minutes. I’d definitely stay here again.

“Quiet and decent road - turn around one mile”

Quiet area, and decent but fairly narrow road. Go 1 mile for a good turnaround and campsites.

Take the narrow dirt road up the mountain a bit to find some scattered spots. I took the first available spot, but it was up quite a bit. Worth it though. Would have stayed longer, but a heat wave was in the forecast, so I moseyed up north a bit more. Overall, two thumbs up.
Verizon fair.

We spent 5 nights here in mid April 2023. The roads in were well maintained, with bit of rocky patch around the bend and down in the valley where most the camping in.
We got there on a Tuesday around 1 pm and the place was packed, which surprised us. Then by Friday and Saturday it was wide open, hard to predict boondocking! There are places you can turn around if you don't find a spot you like so I would definitely recommend continuing past the first few spot which sit right on the road and go down to the open prairie area.
Great hiking nearby which was why we chose this spot. We felt very safe and had a Ranger come through one day checking on camping limits. Spots were very clean, and there did not seem to be anyone abusing the 14 day limit.
It was windy every day we were there, and you're gonna get dusty out here especially if the utv's are coming through on the main road.
We stayed at the last pull off on the left as you are heading in, just before the gate "with the keep closed sign".
Not a bad spot if utv's aren't coming down the road from the other direction, if they are you'll get dusty.

Once here we were happy with our choice-Beautiful views of the verde valley, rain/mud was not an issue here. Some traffic on 689 and if your a light sleeper you may here i-17 traffic but it didn't bother us.
Good t-mobile and Verizon cell service. Would stay here again!

Only a few other rigs during the week that are likely people who stay there long term. We weren’t bothered by anyone. More traffic on the weekend but still not too bad. The road condition is decent - some ruts but definitely pretty good for a forest road. About 30-40 mins to Sedona. Closest water fill is at either rest area right off interstate 17. You can also take trash there.

I only stayed a couple days because 689 was busier than expected and I was right beside it. So there was dust and limited privacy although I couldn't see any other campsites. There was road noise from I-17 and 618 mostly from 5am to midnight. I kept a fan going all night for white noise. Verizon was intermittent. Youtube videos were constantly buffering even on the lowest setting. The site was fairly clean, but within 50' the ground was covered with toilet paper. Disgusting. The ground is mostly rock with limited soil. Best to pack it out.
