We stayed one turnout before the GPS coordinates on this listing. I would advise entering coming from the highway and not once you've turned around from the main location. We stayed one turnout before the GPS coordinates on this listing. I would advise entering coming from the highway and not once you've turned around from the main location. It was steeper and drug out class A a little. The main location was nice and easy to get to with fairly flat spots. Our location had a more worn road, but we made it. All the spots were fairly full of people up and down the forest road. We had a little noise from the airport, but quiet and nice weather in September.

Overall Rating
The good: Six minutes to the south entrance to the Grand Canyon. Tusayan is closer than that for supplies, propane, water, dump.
The bad: You can hear the sounds of Tusayan. You are also under the return flight path of all the helicopter tours. I mean right under, they fly back just over tree top, so you have to be cool with that.

We had to change our plans to visit Yosemite at the last moment due to wildfires. We chose to visit the Grand Canyon but had no reservations. We had to change our plans to visit Yosemite at the last moment due to wildfires. We chose to visit the Grand Canyon but had no reservations. Since we were in a camper van we just decided to wing it and try free camping. The road is easy to find and well maintained. We took a quick tour in the am to see how it all worked before we hit the GC. Once the sun set we drove back and picked a spot. The other campers were visible but quiet. Some of the turn offs further back were pretty rough. Ours was closer to the entrance and was great. Super close to restaurants. Glad we took the chance!

Stayed here beginning of July 2020 but further up near Canyon on Coconino Rim Road near Grand Canyon Village. Very beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Very close to canyon off 64. The closest markets are in Grand Canyon Village and Tusayan. They are rather pricey so come prepared.

Stayed 2 nights here in June 2020. It's nice and quiet, but the wind kicks up a lot of dust. We tried to eat outside, but its just too dusty. We saw 2 coyote and evidence of black bears (3 poo piles around our spot). The site is very clean and there were other campers within view, but still quite a ways away. Stayed 2 nights here in June 2020. It's nice and quiet, but the wind kicks up a lot of dust. We tried to eat outside, but its just too dusty.
We saw 2 coyote and evidence of black bears (3 poo piles around our spot). The site is very clean and there were other campers within view, but still quite a ways away. Easy access to the Grand Canyon and the road is clearly marked.
I heard a couple of helicopters and a few cars drove by, but other than that it's just the sound of wind and birds.

We only stayed here for one night. Best BLM and i have ever been on. Flat spots, easy access, and beautiful. Only stayed one night due to having to be in Page Arizona the next day. If you want to disperse camp and see GC. Stay here.

This was a great spot to camp with our family. The pull-off camping spaces right off the road were spacious and easy to access. Most spaces had one to two campers there. We were able to go down the road a little further and find a nice spot where we were the only campers. Very quiet at night not much traffic on the forest road overall... more
This was a great spot to camp with our family. The pull-off camping spaces right off the road were spacious and easy to access. Most spaces had one to two campers there. We were able to go down the road a little further and find a nice spot where we were the only campers. Very quiet at night not much traffic on the forest road overall and almost none after dark. Grand Canyon was not terribly busy as we were still in the middle of COVID-19 so not sure how full this place gets during the normal season. The forest road is just on the edge of Tusayan, AZ. We did not have cell service for the last 20-30 minutes driving in from the South and nowhere around town or GCNP. There was a McDonald's 2 blocks from the forest road entrance so when we needed to grab some information we would go and hop on their wifi. There is also wifi at the Grand Canyon Village inside the park.

We got here on Sunday mid afternoon and there was only one other camper when we pulled in. It was very quiet and peaceful. We got here on Sunday mid afternoon and there was only one other camper when we pulled in. It was very quiet and peaceful. On our way into the spot, we saw four Elk on the side of the road which was a great sight to see. Overall, the site was clean but still had some left over trash (glass bottle and broken glass) on the ground. Our Verizon phone had 3 to 4 bars while our T-Mobile had a hard time getting service in our spot but would range from 1 to 2. We would defiantly stay here again!

You may stay up to 14 days here. Just shy of the South Grand Canyon entrance. Normally there are helicopters flying out of the nearby airport on a regular basis for tours however we didn’t experience that. You may stay up to 14 days here. Just shy of the South Grand Canyon entrance. Normally there are helicopters flying out of the nearby airport on a regular basis for tours however we didn’t experience that. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic we are experiencing, the Town of Tusayan which is very close, doesn’t have very many businesses operating. Also, there are not many campers as well. The general store is open and they have basic food and beverage items. It’s very peaceful with lots of tall pines. Just have to clean up your standard broken glass and such when you arrive.
