The campground itself was old but very quiet because we were on an end lot in the woods which is what we wanted.
No lot space. The others could shake their neighbors hand from their windows lol
If we go alone without our Furbabies we would stay there again.

Our initial impression was good. Overall our stay was good. The office lady is harsh and not friendly. The campground is a bit older but very clean and kept up. They have full hookups and laundry facilities available.

The main office woman has been difficult from the moment we arrived. Throwing her hands up in the air in frustration when ‘helping’ us back into our site, warming us not to complain about slow internet speeds on the weekends, skepticism about how we run our rig, the list goes on. We brushed it off as her maybe having a bad day and kept to our own. Tonight though... A group of children, ages roughly 2-11, were playing in the main grassy area of the campground where a volleyball net (the campground’s) is located. One thing led to another, the kids brilliantly figured out how to turn the volleyball net into a slingshot to toss about a game of catch. Squeals of joy upon the sun setting, many of us camping around the grass field enjoying these joyful kids. 10 minutes into it, Joni came barreling down the grassy field in her golf cart, top speed. She then began aggressively yelling and screaming at the children to return to their campers for using the volleyball net not as intended. Full on temper tantrum screaming. From an adult. There was no civility and it was absurd to watch. Did she attempt a conversation? No. Did she try and talk to the parents? No. She proved how nasty of a person she is, and released it on children. The oldest child of the group kept trying to apologize, but Joni kept pointing and yelling at her to get back to her camper. Should the kids have been doing what they had been? Maybe not. But to humiliate and berate them in the way Joni did was absolutely disgusting and horrifying. There are plenty of other RV parks in the Cherokee area. Stay clear of this one at all costs.

I went with the shelter tent site, plenty of covered space with electric, water and fire ring. The space for outdoor cooking was great, no worries if it rained, plenty of cover. That said, I think we would have been fine with a basic tent site - big savings with basic tent site, great amenities (such as bath house) with close to same price as disperse camping in the National Forest with no amenities.
Flaming Arrow is a well kept campground. Beautiful mellow surroundings, and mellow happy campers and staff. If you are looking for mellow and a great base camp to explore the Oconaluftee area, this is the campground for you!

We made reservations by phone the day of our arrival, January 26th. 2018. We did get our Passport America discount price, $22.50 which is 50% off plus we paid $6 more for having 2 extra adults, 4 all together. We were told we would need to leave our Rv sink faucet dripping through the night as the temperature was expected to be well below freezing and that the bath houses were shut down for the winter. Obviously they want to do what they can to prevent freeze ups of plumbing. Also the host asked us to be there by 5 PM for registration and turning the water on at our site. The campground host seems strict with the rules but it benefits all campers. The Garmin GPS had no trouble finding the campground, we were warned by the host not to take highway 129 as it is very twisty. Instead our final route that day was from Gatlinberg,Tn. and through the Smoky Mountains National Park to Cherokee with outstanding views. The host escorted us to our site. We had a gravel pull through site up on a hill that had a nice view of the forested RV park below. We had a picnic table and fire ring. Also we had full hookups and good clear cable TV. We used 30A but 50A was also available. Campground wifi was extremely slow when we first tried it at 8PM so we used our Verizon hotspot instead and that worked great. Though we were there on a Friday night, the RV park was quiet and we enjoyed our evening. Temperature dipped to 22 degrees F. during the night. We enjoyed the Native American Arts and Crafts in Cherokee the next day.
