This gets five stars for setting, best vault toilets & easy access from one of the most beautiful highways, US 26 I've driven. BUT this is a forest service campground so services are limited. This gets five stars for setting, best vault toilets & easy access from one of the most beautiful highways, US 26 I've driven. BUT this is a forest service campground so services are limited. We stayed in a non-electric site close to toilet and Falls trail (#38, pull thru with great view).
Campground is 1/2 mile from Brooks lake (also national forest campground) and 5 miles from Continental Divide. We hiked the short but beautiful trail to a raging falls. The electric loop was full when we arrived in afternoon. The non-electric sites were well spaced & private (and inexpensive, particularly with senior pass - sites do vary but they didn't fill when we were there)
Morses safari would stay here again

Two loops here. One with electric at $20 a night and the other without at $15 I think. We took the electric. The water does not have a threaded coupler. The skeeters were bad. The road noise was not noticed. The creeks had high water, so we did not fish. Brooks lake up the road was very pretty and we fished there and caught rain... more

The road noise was not noticed. The creeks had high water, so we did not fish. Brooks lake up the road was very pretty and we fished there and caught rainbows. No ATT service till you move up the mountain.

Being officially the end of the season, the Forest Service was not charging anymore. They will keep the gates open until snowfall (the same for Brooks & Pinacle campgrounds up at Brooks Lake) but no facilities and no trash service. Being officially the end of the season, the Forest Service was not charging anymore. They will keep the gates open until snowfall (the same for Brooks & Pinacle campgrounds up at Brooks Lake) but no facilities and no trash service. Typical forest service campground but with access to a creek for fishing.
Didn't test the phone...relaxation time! Access to great hiking.
