Maiden voyage in our new to us 5th wheel. We were met at the gate by the host and given an option for the site to park. The one we picked online was not for us. Several people greeted us and offered help as we began setting up. Although I’ve decided that dispersed camping or boondocking is more in my wheelhouse, this is a nice park! We had room for our food prep table, a hammock and our camp chairs. It’s shady. The people are friendly. My husband enjoyed getting up early and sitting at the fire ring with others in the camp, drinking coffee and visiting. I think I would have really enjoyed the new area as there is a small meadow where deer and wild horses will come graze. We took our dog walking several times and were able to enjoy seeing the wildlife. It’s close to Ruidoso where we hiked the river trail. Although Bonito Lake is empty due to restoration procedures from the fire in 2012, we were still able to picnic by the river and just enjoy the cool, quiet mountains. We really enjoyed this place and would recommend to anyone who needed a short term or long term stay.

This park had been closed for 6 or so years and just reopened this year. The new owners put in 8 new spots on the lower level (Meadows 1-8) to add to the previous sites from before. We stayed in 1 of the original sites for 1 night as they were having trouble with our assigned site. This site was just ok, hard to level. We spoke to RVer's that had stayed there in previous years that commented it was not in as good shape as with the previous owners. Our site (M2) was a disaster. The new sites were not installed properly. Not level and very hard to get in. There was no road base put down and the gravel wasn't compacted. We were traveling in a large Class A. Our front tires sunk up to the rim of the wheel. We ruined one of our rear levelers as they had not removed some concrete footings (just put gravel on top). The leveler went through the gravel and once it hit the edge of the concrete it bent the foot pad and will have to be replaced. When we pulled out today there were 8" deep ruts from our tires. The sewer connection is uphill and the only reason we were able to use it was we have a macerator pump. Also, the sewer system has no lateral lines so they have to come in and pump out the tanks when they get full. The smell is atrocious!
The people who were traveling with 5th wheels, TT's were advised to use 4WD (if they had it) to get into the sites as they were extremely uphill and once they hit the gravel the tires would just spin.
This could be a beautiful park. The location is great but until they get someone in to run the park that knows that rv spaces should not require 4WD to access and that sewer hoses cannot run uphill, you will not want to stay here.

Manager is the absolute worst “people person”. The minute you ask him a question he is on the defensive! He can not tell the truth! TIPS: DO NOT STAY HERE, IT IS AWFUL!
BEST PART OF STAYING HERE WAS LEAVING! Arrival was a nightmare! Grass is not kept mowed! Wish I could find out the owners name! He needs to know the terrible job being done at his investment! Would give “0” stars if it would let me.
