At 2:00am we woke to a police yelling in their bullhorn “get out of the vehicle with your hands up”.
We looked out the window and saw a police truck in the ocean a few feet and a police truck a few yards behind them doing the talking. Appeared someone stole the police truck and drove into the water.
We were about 20 yards away from an active standoff situation. Scared, we jumped in our suv and drove past to the exit. Police were all over the place with guns and an ambulance.
I would not advise staying here. Our cell service was spotty as well.
We have boondocked for years and this was the only time I feared for my life. Do yourself a favor and Stay at the north beach by Corpus Christi. That was way better.

This spot has nice beaches and water but the beach is very narrow in many spots and has very soft sand. We boondock a lot and have enough solar to run our AC with Lithium batteries so we like a little space between us and other campers. We were here on a Tuesday and it was crowded everyone right next to each other. We would hate to come on a weekend! A part of the beach can be accessed by a car but then quickly becomes very soft. We needed to put our truck into 4wheel drive at a few spots. We would not attempt to bring our 27’ RV out here. The bathrooms and parking lot are a bit nicer than King Edwin and the parking lot and pavilion are open. However there is no Dry camping in the parking lot …only on the beach. If you did attempt to boondock on the beach wait for low tide so you could turn rig around and get a spot within the 100 yards of entrance.!

Wow! We had some an amazing time Boondocking on the beach here! It is $12 one time fee and you can stay as much as you want. Gets busy on the weekend but we were mostly alone there on weekdays. The entrance to the beach is well maintained so can easily get on the beach, but about 1 mile in there was an area with softer sand.
We drove our 36ft motorhome but got stuck in the sand when trying to park. We were able to put our jacks down and get out but after 5 days of tide change the way out was very hard. We got stuck in the soft sand and needed an assistance of another truck to help pull us out.
At the end it was an amazing experience but I’m not sure I can handle that stress again...

Stayed in a tent here for one night. Wanted to stay longer but went fishing in a different spot. It was $12 to get on the beach. The sand is very soft, my suv got stuck when I was trying to turn around. Two people stopped and helped me out. Good place to stay the night on good weather. Can’t wait to being my camper and stay longer
