Stayed in late March. Water still off. So com prepared with your own water if close to freezing temps at night. Not clear on website when it is turned back on.
Nice bath, shower facilities. Nice long views from RV camp.

Hiking trail to overlook was about half the distance indicated on the sign, and looking forward to the Ash Canyon Loop trail tomorrow.
Caught many VERY SMALL rainbow trout and bass ...

If I had a camper or an RV I would have stayed. But with my tent I went to my backup site.

There were only 5 spots taken the whole time so pretty much had our pick. The sites all seemed very level and extremely clean clean facilities as well. The best part was how quiet and peaceful the entire stay was and the night sky is amazing! We will definitely try to come back here in the spring or fall. I only gave 4 stars for access because there is not much as far as signs.

Our site was a back-in and probably 1 of maybe 4 sites that would accommodate our 40' motorhome. Nice view of the lake and mountains. It was pretty windy in the afternoon every day we were there and a good amount of sand/dust would blow. We would have given it a 5 if not for the wind.
It was about 11 miles to Pioche and 14 miles to Cathedral Gorge State Park. Across the lake and up on a plateau was the other loop with full hookups and probably less dusty, but not as lushed landscaping as the loop we stayed in. It was fairly busy with people fishing and driving in and out of the boat launch/lake access area. Very quite at night stars galore.
Our AT&T phone would show 2 - 3 bars 5Ge

Stayed here for Mothers Day week, 5 days Came up north on Hwy 93 through the town of Panaca founded in 1864. Easy paved road in to the RV camp. You can also come down south on 93 through Pioche and head in from there. Full hook ups at upper camp. Across the lake is the campground that can also do RVs but more for tent campers or Class B campers. We stayed at the upper camp in site #1. $10 per night with state parks pass or $25. We wanted this site because it was close to the trail that leads down to the lake. Awesome fishing! Rainbow and Brown Trout, Brown Bass and Crappie. Pretty good sizes, good for meals. My son, his wife and I caught our limit each day. You can fish from the shore or bring a small boat.
20 full hookup sites. Scout out the sites. Some of the hook-ups place your right side RV door on the road side. Several sites were available when we arrived on a Thursday. Each site has good water, electricity and sewer. Sites are spaced out nicely. 30amp or 50 amp with some 20 amp circuits. This came in handy with our portable Traeger smoker! My wife made us eggs and smoked trout for breakfast! Restrooms are flush toilets and very clean. Fire rings and covered tables for outside dinning. Rangers are very nice and accommodating. No camp host. Days were nice and sunny. Nights were great for star gazing!. Cell service was very good. I had a video conference call that I made easily. It was a very pleasant stay. We will be back again!
Up the road from the lake leads you to Eagle Valley Reservoir and campsite as well as Eagle Valley Resort. No hook-ups or sewer but water at each site. There is a dump station. I heard there is good fishing there also.

There are TWO CAMPGROUNDS in Echo Canyon State Park. There is the upper campground with FULL hookups for RVs and there is the lower campground meant more for tent camping. They appear about the same elevation, perhaps upper is higher. The lower campground is across Echo Dam Road from the boat launch entrance to the reservoir. The upper campground is at the end of a dirt road that runs along the west side of the reservoir. You can see the upper campground (aka RV campground) from Echo Dam Road - it has few tall trees and likely enough RVs to stand out. The lower campground is more hidden in the mountain with the trees.
We stayed in the RV campground and used the electric hookups. There were water and sewer as well but we didn't use thus can't verify quality. Everything looked clean and well kept and the water had TWO spouts, which is very nice. Each spot had covered picnic tables and a fire ring. There was a small pile of firewood you could purchase on the honor system from the information stand at the entrance. The park, like all the Nevada State Parks with camping, is first come first serve. And you pay at the kiosk drop box. A ranger comes by and checks on the campers about once a day. It costs $15 per night without hookups and $25 with hookups. If you get the state park all access pass then camping is free, you just pay $10 for hookups if you use them.
We ended up here because we went to Cathedral Gorge state park but it was full. This park had plenty of spaces and was just about 20 miles away. We chose Echo Canyon rather than staying in the Cathedral Gorge overflow area because we needed hookups due to the cold weather.
Our experience was bug-free (always a plus) and visibility was far! We saw hundreds of deer across the meadows. The winds at night were very strong and loud but didn't do any damage. The morning sun was strong and warmed things up quickly. Overall, we thought this place was a great value because of the full hookups.
