We could not get a spot at Angel Creek or Angel Lake and decided to stay here. Definitely were not sure of it after previous reviews but it worked out. Fantastic sunset and sunrise views. Was very quiet too. Small fire ring which we grilled over the night before. Perfect spot if you cannot get into the other nearby paid areas.

Although the views were definitely beautiful, there is a guy that is permanently parked there now. Just didn’t seem like a safe place to be, so we went down the road a little bit. This whole area is gorgeous, there’s a couple different places that you can park for free

I drove here from Wendover, UT on my way West on I80, thinking it would be a better spot with similar access. I was mistaken. It’s a beautiful place, but I wasn’t comfortable turning off the main road into the dispersed camping are with my 21’ Class C and tow dolly. I could see a 5th wheel in the area, but I couldn’t see whether I would be able to turnaround in the same spot if I made it up there, and no place to park and scout ahead. The worst part is there is no turnaround past the Angel Creek campground, so I had to go all the way to Angel Lake to turnaround. Coming down was a white-knuckle experience with my tow dolly and full water tank. Engine brake could barely keep me at 25mph, and there are no guardrails, or much of a road shoulder. There is a turnout about halfway down where I stopped to cool the brakes. I think Angel Lake is an awesome spot, but more suitable for small campers, and tents, or short RVs without a dolly.

Gorgeous views of the valley and drove to the top one day (without the trailer, thank god) to hike from Angel Lake to Smith Lake, an easy short hike to a secluded Alpine lake.
Awesome spot, wonderful views. Would stay there again. Boondocking, but you can fill/dump at the RV park at the base of the hill for just $5.
