We stayed in the Equestrian area for the eclipse. Everything else was booked. We don’t have horses and neither did anyone else staying in the equestrian area. The pros: fairly quiet—only a little road noise, close to Wylie; the cons: picnic table boards were ragged and broken, cigarette butts were everywhere and the fire ring looked like an ashtray and garbage can, huge fire ant hills along the concrete picnic pad, area got really muddy after a storm. With some easy TLC this area could be a real gem.

Campground is very nice, with one exception, the bathrooms. In disrepair and dirty. Probably not updated since original construction.

Busted picnic tables, etc. I stayed in the Equestrian area - not because I have a horse but all the other RV sites were booked for Memorial Day so I was grateful to get it! Nice place for horse owners though - each site has two paddocks. I thought they'd get upset because I booked an equestrian site, but like I said, there were no equestrians there. Very nice host at the entry - gave me good suggestions on things to do. Walmart is less than a mile to walk, so that's a plus. And Wylie is, seriously, like the Mexican Food Capital of the World. So many great places to eat - check it out! Really nice laundry in Wylie as well - very big and clean with massage chairs and everything you need. Never saw so many nice tent camping sites at a COE Par before - right on the water too.

Keep in mind the gate to get into the park is open from 10am to 10 pm. If you leave early in the morning you can't get back to your site via car until they reopen at 10 am. There is parking outside the gate and you can exit the park at any time. We will return. Staff was very nice and kept the place very clean.

I’ve been full-timing for 2 years. I think I do a decent job of giving a place a decent review (good or bad).
THIS PLACE IS A GOOD PLACE TO CAMP! With the America the Beautiful card, it's $15 with electric and water. A dump station is available nearby.
Sure, the roads have some potholes… but I would rate the entire Dallas metroplex as WORSE. There is absolutely NO REASON not to camp here. The folks at the front gate were helpful. I avoided any rough spots in the road and arrived at a LONG and roomie site with a beautiful view of the lake.
Although my rig is completely self contained, I checked out the water flushing toilets and they were spotless.
I was so happy with this campground, I booked another night. There was some water around the water connection, but I stepped around it. The water worked perfectly. The Electrical hookups were properly wired. I backed in and used my extension power cord because the box was located midway from the rear. Since the space was so long… I could have pulled up a bit.
I enjoyed my camping experience here. Any size rig will have plenty of room. It was quiet, had lots of space to walk the dog, the sites are spread out, the lake is RIGHT THERE, and all I can say, I’m glad that I made the decision to ‘check it out’…

Pros:
1. Good space between campsites.
2. Friendly staff.
3. Clean restroom and showers.
4. Campsite was very quiet, except for day use. I believe this was because the mosquitos and chiggers are so bad people stay in their RV’s.
Cons:
1. Bugs infestation. Mosquitos, ants, chiggers, flying knats. If you thing you fog, use zappers, etc. and get rid of these, your totally wrong!
2. Grass is not maintained at all. They had a zero turn mower on site, where they need a tractor with a bush hog. Standing water everywhere, including your camp space and around bathrooms.
3. Unleveled RV spaces, pot holes in the drive area. Terribly maintained RV park.
4. Water and electric only. One dump station outside of gate. And gate closes 10pm to 10am. So if you need to dump between this hours, good luck 🤔
5. The entire shoreline is the day user area. They pretty much occupy all the lake.

Overall was a good experience. Was close to every place I needed to go. Shopping is close, attendants are mostly friendly. Place was well kept. Roads getting in and out need some improvement and gate closes at 10 pm. If later than that, park outside and walk. Will be staying there again when I need to be in the DFW area.

Diring the day, the day use area was full of people enjoying family get togethers. Lots of laughter from the kids, and everyone seemed to be friendly. The local police patrolled frequently, and no one misbehaved.
The people at the gate were warm and friendly. They were nice enough to allow us to move when I noticed one leg of our 50 amp went dead at our original site (18). 37 had a much better view and breeze from the lake anyway.
Now, for the bad... The roads leading in from the parkway are the worst I've seen. Full of potholes and damaged sections, they're impossible to drive over at any speed. This carries over into the park. The asphalt is failing, and potholes are everywhere. They really need to replace the road surface.

RV sites have water and 50/30 amp electric and there are 12 tent sites. We had a nice view of Lake Lavon. Grills and tables vary by site, some are very old, but many have been replaced. There are trees - some large enough to provide some shade if desired, but most small enough to allow satellite reception. The sites are well spaced and are "mostly" paved with aging asphalt. The roads are in need of repair, with numerous potholes, some very large, but the attendant did say that the park was on the CoEs list for repairs. There is a dump station just outside the entrance. The entry gate is locked from 10PM to 6AM, so plan accordingly if leaving the park, lest you park outside and walk back to your site. Overall, this is a good value, and one of the few non-RV park options in the greater Dallas area.

Great sites across from large lake. We had site 21. Need ant spray. Lots of red ants:( Water and electric but no sewer hookup. Covered concrete picnic tables. Definitely need a table cloth. Out door hose/shower super helpful if you swim as the lake has a silt bottom like thick, yellowish mud. Not much shade on the beach so an umbrella would be nice. We camped in Early September when it was super hot and dry so couldn’t have fires or use charcoal grills.
