We were in site 04, close to the entrance, with our 30’ motorhome. No problems backing in. Enjoyed hiking the lower trail along rock creek. The upper one was quite swampy. Would stay here again

A campground worker came by and said we could switch out to a first-come, first-serve site at no cost so we moved to #132 which was better but still pretty unlevel and we used every one of our blocks plus a neighbor gave us a big chunk of firewood to hold one wheel in place because our chauks weren’t strong enough on the sandy soil.
We didn’t see many sites flat enough for a medium size tent.
The other strange thing is there’s nowhere to do dishes or dump dirty water. There are flush toilets and bathroom sinks but no washing sink. Where do you dump pasta water, dish soap, etc and not either attract bears or harm the environment?? We heard these same comments from other campers.
Lots of bear activity!
The road to get around the campground is narrow and steep in parts.
The campground it’s self is in a beautiful location and the bathrooms are well maintained.

Our firepit was very close to our site, so that even though fires were allowed (interestingly with CA drought) we were not able to use it. Large campground with multiple camp managers.

One of my favorite campgrounds EVER, if you can manage to snag a spot on the creek. I’ve been coming here my whole life. Rock Creek is the stuff dreams are made of. 🥰

Site 126 was plenty long enough for our truck and 25’ trailer, but the tree just opposite the site made backing into the space a challenge. The site was large and unshaded which was fine for the mild weather while we were there, great for solar charging. The creek was just across the road, excellent for fishing, too cold to swim.
The site was fairly large and had a couple of well placed shrubs that made it feel quite private.
No hookups at our site, but I think some are available.
The restrooms are flush toilets, kept super clean by the three camp hosts. I don’t think there are showers or other amenities beyond selling firewood.
The real star of this campground is access to Rock Creek Trail just up the hill. It’s several miles up the road, so don’t count on hiking up, but is one of my most favorite hikes ever.
You can also get great peach cobbler at the small resort across from Rock Creek Lake or rent small boats for day use.
There is a convenient dump station that is included in your campsite fees - at Tom’s Place, the turn off from Highway 395,
