“Good, quiet, woodsy campground close to LP”

Stayed here on a whim. Owners were super helpful accommodating at the last minute. Campground has heated showers. Most sites are heavily wooded. Great for privacy. Has an effect on cleanliness in wet conditions. Asked the owner if I could switch to one of the field sites for my final nite. No issue, no additional charge.

Because our stay was during the week (checked out Saturday AM), they were happy with "honor system" at reservation time. Leah also spent a lot of time with me on the phone after emailing me the site map going over the pros/cons of various sites.
The overall location of the campground is fantastic--20 minutes or so into Lake Placid with all its restaurants and shops and another 15 minutes in the other direction to groceries and many major trailheads.
Check in was equally smooth, even as the office has adapted to Covid regulations (no entry into office). We had no issues with the nice, wooded site, esp as it was a pull-through. It was level, had a picnic table, full hookup and a fire ring with lots of timber/kindling everywhere.
The only problem with this area of the campground is that it is basically amid the seasonal/permanent sites that do not have a lot of land around them. And that's a problem because, like any homeowners, the folks across the way were busy building a deck with power tools, weed whacking and one day, pruning trees with a power pole saw.We were gone during the day but sometimes this home improvement activity went on till 7 or so, which totally destroyed any kind of camping atmosphere around dinner and fireside. In fact, we ended up eating in the camper with the fan on just to block out the noise! There was also a fair amount of truck noise from the highway just over the trees.
There is another part of the campground reserved for travelling campers. It is a large field surrounded by trees and certainly not as attractive as our area.

We paid for one night, then another and then 3 more. We had a water/electric site and they are close together in a grass field, but we were on the end with our friends next to us so we didn't mind. I think as long as you aren't packed in tight it'll be nice. Great owners, definitely working on making improvements and great to chat ... more

Great owners, definitely working on making improvements and great to chat with. Showers were decent and we actually loved having grass for the kids to run around on.
Lake Placid is a great town - we hiked Cascade mountain which was just down the road, and swam/SUPed at the public beach. Love this area!
