This was an awesome free camping spot. We ended up staying just 1 night as we were headed into Nevada to get some RV work done. We wish we could have stayed longer. The road down there was rather bumpy and super dusty. This area is used mainly for off roading, so the bumpy road made sense. Just go slow no matter what size you are. It took us a while to get down the road to the camping spot, but once we got there we realized it was worth it. Large open spaces. Trash cans on site, tables, and even an grill. There are 2 sites, but I think you could fit a few small rigs in one, or one larger rig in each.

We were really looking forward to staying at these two sites but a 3 ton weight limit on the bridges put the kabash on that. Our class A runs about 15 tons not including toad, well beyond the 6000 lb weight limit. We were really looking forward to staying at these two sites but a 3 ton weight limit on the bridges put the kabash on that. Our class A runs about 15 tons not including toad, well beyond the 6000 lb weight limit. If your running much more than a pick-up truck and light trailer getting to this one is not (legally) possible. What's worse is there's not much room to turn around to get back out. We had to unhook the toad and do a 10 point turn around with our 40 ft coach. Believe me these bridges are rickety, check them out first before heading in. For us we went on down the road to Honeyman rest area.
Cheers! OE

We were planning on heading to the Fort Sage Trailhead campground for a night on our way up US-395 but had saw on the BLM webpage that they just completed two new sites at this trailhead, which you pass on your way to the larger campground.
The BLM did an outstanding job here, with two large gravel sites each with a picnic table and garbage cans. The larger site could fit 3 rigs easily and has a nice charcoal grill tower, while the other site could fit 2 rigs and has a cement fire ring.
The road in is in good shape there are just a bunch of turns, it was being freshly grated when we went down it in August. Coming from the south, there was a narrow bridge that may have been signed at a somewhat low capacity, our 7 tons made it fine but if that concerns you, just enter from the north side of the town of Doyle. The views up here are stellar, especially for sunset and the Verizon 4G is really quick.
We seriously considered changing plans to stay here it was so nice, but the weather was going to be hot so we moved on up the mountains. It got a little windy here, which is probably the norm.
