Desert Creek Campground

Used to live in the small town of Smith nearby and spent a lot of time up in the canyon. While you might be able to get a small tent trailer or tear drop in here, RV's aren't advised. There are seven creek crossings, numerous low branches, narrow sections and rocky areas. 4WD recommended.

However, there a few dispersed spots as you enter the lower canyon and 4-6 sites on the upper end of the canyon that I've seen larger RV's in. The upper canyon is accessed from another Forest Service road (NF-50) 10 or so miles south along the highway and it's a long trip in, though there are some spots along the way closer to the highway. Rain will make that road impassable.
