“SITE 12 WAS WONDERFUL”

We got very lucky and snatched up someone's cancellation for site 12. MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE as we originally booked #34, an interior site, which would not have suited us. Twelve overlooked the water and was perfect.

I will not be back, I would give it 0 stars if possible. I have no idea how others can give this park 4 or 5 stars, it was the worst campground we have ever stayed at. The campground roads at Delta Lake State Park are terrible. They are one giant pothole. The pavement has disintegrated on both edges so you can only drive with one side on the pavement. Honestly, this is totally unsatisfactory for a state park. Sites are a random mix of 30 and 50 amp.
The campground is tight and crowded, with many branches overhanging the road that hit your rig. Loudest patrons of any park we have been to.
For some reason, the kids are extra loud here. Some kids do nothing but scream at each other all day. Parents just let their kids run wild throughout the campground. Kids walked through and played in our site, their parents don't care. I like kids but unsupervised kids that scream all day are not welcome and show how bad some parents are. They treat other campground guests like we are built in babysitters.
The lake is nice if you can get a lakeside site. However, most lakeside sites are extremely un-level. Campground road is one way but some site entrances are slanted the wrong way so you have to go the wrong way to back in. Site 19 was wide but it did us no good as we had to park right up against the trees to reach the power pole. On site 19, to reach the power, we had to park 10 feet from our neighbors picnic table. Their fire was right behind the rear of our RV. Why is our power pole in the neighbor's site? Then their smoke came straight in our RV.
Registration was OK, at least they had a place to pull off. Their requirement to park your vehicle, come inside and give them the name of every person in your party is ridiculous especially during COVID resurgence times.
This is our 3rd NY state park and we will not be returning. They are over-priced and they under-deliver.
There is only one dump station and one water station for 100 sites, again ridiculous. There are small fountains throughout the park but only one threaded, high pressure faucet at the dump station.
Campground is 3-4 miles from Rome, NY.
The only upside is that we got 3 bars of AT&T and 20 HDTV channels.

We were right on the lake. Nice sized camp sites. And electric. Don’t have to worry about bears here.
Bathrooms were not great. Bath house was a little better but also not great. But shower was good.

Very shaded with tall trees and little undergrowth, so not much privacy from neighbors, but at least they are pretty far away. Some sites have 30 amp, others are 50 amp. Dump station and fresh water available in campground. Flush toilets in all 3 loops. Shower building between loop B and C. Excellent Verizon cel service. Lake side campsites would be preferred, but will have to reserve those well in advanced. A little noisy late afternoon/early evening from other campsites, but hey, you’re in NY! Short hiking trails in park, easy lake access for fishing/kayaking. Beach area with playground but water too low in September to swim. 15 minute drive to Rome for supplies.

We were able to stop in without reservation midweed and pick from lots of spots. Great staff and large sites.

Took a short travel from our home just to get away in our camper. Delta Lake was such a treat. Lovely kayak paddling from our campsite (even though the bank was a bit steep) was a super plus. Our waterfront view was very peaceful.
Sites for trailers were very large and all wooded. Lots of coziness. Bathroom (only) was easy access from our site. Satisfactory, but in need of a little fresh paint. Good job keeping it clean.
Sweet wooded walking trails. Great for biking around. Very large beach and playground for kids.
Easy access to Rome for anything you need or want. Definitely would travel here again.
