After trying the 2 state park campgrounds around Clear Lake and, unsurprisingly, finding they were booked at the end of the week of Independence Day we called Deer Valley Lodge Campground. They had a cancellation and so we had a spot.
There isn’t a website for this campground, and the Facebook page doesn’t have a lot of information about prices, policies, etc., and so we didn’t have a lot of information about the campground before we rolled-in.
The price per night was, $30, and for that we had a site with full hook-ups. The campground is well-maintained, and also has a pool, playground, and dock access on the lake. I didn’t see signs pointing the way to the dock, and since we were only there for a couple of night I didn’t follow-up to ask its location.
The sites are all close together, and several trailers were hooked-up in a way that indicated they were there for the season. Lots of kids around riding bikes, using the pool and playground, and hanging out. It appears that groups of people camp together here, and are very social.
I forgot to get a picture of our site, but there is probably 15-20 ft between trailers. Each spot is very shaded, which can create some mud.
Given the close quarters and the number of people camping the noise level was relatively low throughout the day and evening.
There is a bike path close to the campground that can take you to Mcintosh St. Park and we found the entire area to be bike friendly.
We spent most of a day at the beach at Clear Lake State Park. Highly recommend this beach location!
We wouldn’t rush to stay here again because we would rather pay less and have more space between trailers; having full hookups isn’t a priority for us.
This campground can be a good option for campers who value full hookups, want amenities for kids, and like being in a campground where you are close to your neighbors.

“Owner/mananger is RUDE and a HORRIBLE PERSON!!”
Reviewed 8/3/2019
I called to stay 1 night with 2 spots. I was spoken to rudely on the phone, but over looked it. We arrived and he was no where to be found so I had to call him twice before he answered. He told us to find 2 spots and he would be there in a little while. The campground needs lots of maintenance, the trees were hanging down so low that we (my parents with their 5th wheel and my husband and I in our travel trailer) were concerned with damage to the tops of our rigs and the sides of our trucks. The "guy" finally showed up and had my 83 year old military vet father so confused while backing into the spot. My father has been backing campers up for over 50 years and needed no "help". But this guy then started to yell and curse at my husband and father and then told us that if we can just leave! Who does that?!!! What business owner would behave in such a childish and non rational manner?!!! We pulled out rigs out of that over grown "hole" and went to a LOVELY campground down the road a little bit that had WONDERFUL camp hosts. So be warned!! the guy who either runs or owns this place is a piece of GARBAGE to speak to someone who has served our country and is elderly in the manner that he did!!!!!
