All the sites in the campground have been recently redone. Pads leveled and expanded, new fire rings, vault bathrooms all in great shape. Looking good! Easy access. Several sites would accommodate a 40 footer with tow attached.
Pinon pines still had some nuts on them so we were able to gather a great snack.

For $5 per night, this campground has it all -- many large sites that can fit big rigs, hiking trails right off the campground, plenty of fresh water spigots, and enough foliage to provide privacy without interfering with solar power generation. We stayed here to visit the Very Large Array on one of the open house Saturdays, and it was perfect. The campground is a 20 minute drive from the VLA, and significantly nicer than the RV parks we drove by in Magdalena and Socorro, which are much further from the array. The entry from Highway 60 is gravel, but it is only 1/4 mile and was in good condition when we visited. As a prior reviewer noted, the sites toward the end of the loop tend to be the largest and flattest; site #19 was just about perfectly level and was an easy pull through. The hiking trails off the campground are short (about 3.5 miles total) but provide nice views of the surrounding area and the Plains of Agustin. There is indeed very little in the vicinity, though gas and a small restaurant are available at the Datil crossroads. The campground was perfectly quiet, scenic, in good condition, and an unbelievable bargain.

We were here 5/27 and 5/28/19. Super clean, cheap $2.50 for us oldies. Able to fill our fresh water. Would have stayed longer if able. It was an unscheduled stop for us as we intended to go further that day. GLad we stopped.

Quite and dark at night. Plenty of hiking.

Campground appears to have been newly renovated. Almost all campsites are level. The vault style bathrooms are SPOTLESS, in all my years camping I have never seen bathrooms this clean. The whole campsite is clean and well maintained. Carlos and Theresa (camp Hosts) do a great job. There is water available but not at campsites. No electric or sewage. The one negative I have is the lack of a dump station, (none in the immediate area).
I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.
Camped in a 31 foot Motorhome with one slideout. Campground big rig accessible.

This is a gem of a campground: beautiful, remote, easily accessed and absolutely quiet. Entrance is from an excellent, wide, dirt road from US-60. It's only $5 per night. I paid $2.50 with my NPS senior pass. There is a 7-night limit, not the BLM's normal 14 nights.
I wish I had driven right around the campground before selecting a site. Most slope badly uphill/downhill. I camped at site 10, and had to put blocks under the fully-extended jack. When walking the campground later, I saw that sites 14 to 17 at the bottom of the slope are fairly level.
Hosts Theresa and Carlos were the friendliest campground hosts I have ever met. They truly cared about the campground and the campers.
I had Verizon 3G about 50% of the time, but it was very slow. The campground has wifi, but there was no signal at my site.
This is a good location for visiting the Very Large Array.

Very well maintained in every way that I saw. New latrine restrooms were nice for what they are. Water available via ground pumps all around pump. This site made boondocking a breeze ;)

Agree the host is outstanding at her job! Spotless vault toilets. Excellent well signed trails lead from the campground. Sweet visitor info center with lending library. Don't forget to visit The Gathering Place in Pie Town for a sweet treat if you are heading west.

Beautiful, well-kept little campground with great hosts (Carlos and Theresa). The biggest surprise was how clean the restrooms were. Have you ever been in pit toilets that smelled good? Me either, until I stayed here.... Carlos claimed that Theresa was the one who knew the secret to the great smelling toilets.
Larger rigs are going to have a more difficult time finding a site level enough and large enough to set up in. Those sites are very limited for larger rigs but smaller RV's will have no problem. In a perfect world, the smaller rigs would leave the bigger sites for larger RV's.... in a perfect world. But, when I was there it was first come, first served and choose your favorite site. My 35' class A was limited in sites, but did find one that worked OK for me. Cost was $5/day, or half that with a seniors card.
No hookups, but water is available from hydrants throughout the park, and picnic tables are provided. There is Wi-Fi and a nice little book exchange at the entrance of the CG. This was my only way to communicate since there was NO signal on Consumer Cellular which operates on some AT&T towers. Others have mentioned the VLA and hiking trails available. The VLA is a very interesting afternoon trip not to be missed.
This CG is also a very good place to just sit under the awning and read, or take a nap!
