Do-able but if you do not have a source of shade it was very hot. Be careful of glass in the area some people did leave broken bottles around. One thing to consider too is as soon as the sun goes down the bugs swarm very quickly. But as long as you know these factors and prepare for them, it was overall a very good time.

The town of Saldo was about 20 miles away and is a Top 10 Texas small town to see.
I am giving it a 3 rating because the public facilities were not very clean and we had a power outage for at least 4 hours. If not for the rest rooms this would be a 4.

Great park, huge spaces, very clean with deer roaming around everywhere. Lake was filled with jumping fish. Caught 3 largemouth bass and several bluegill from shore 30 feet from my front door. Would definitely stay here again

This site is a pull thru and when I walk out my front door within 30 feet is the water. The covered picnic table is nice and there aren’t any stickers in the grass, my dogs like that.

Of course this is the first cool week since summer so the weather is amazing but this place is really beautiful. Campsites are well kept and well spaced. On the water with relaxing views. Will definitely come again.

Beautiful park! Especially love site 10. Plently of space between each site. Walk down the slope with your noodle or inflatable tube and enjoy the day on the lake. Clear and clean water. Highly recommend.

We started tent camping here in 2017/2018, and have been coming back with our travel trailer. Great spots on the lake, friendly people, both at check in and other campers. Usually only stay Friday-Sunday, dump station is easy to get into and the showers/bathrooms are always clean and stocked.

Dana Peak is a great place where you can camp right on the shore line of the Stillhouse Hollow Lake. It is close to Fort Hood and Killeen TX. There are MTB and hiking trails in the park, although they were pretty busy each day we were there since they are out of the "pay" portion of the park. The campsites do not have sewer but there is a dump station on the way out of the park. The night of our arrival there was a fire in the area that closed down the entrance road. The camp host called us and informed us of this. We were able to shift to the Fort Hood MWR campground for the first night. It got full over the weekend but cleared out during the week days. Just great views with a cooler wind coming off the lake. The normal cost is $24 per night but with the America the Beautiful Access/Golden Age pass it is $12 per night.
