A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required on all motor vehicles stopping in state parks, forests, recreation areas, trails, and campgrounds. Admission stickers can be purchased online or at most individual properties via drive-up window service, electronic sales kiosks or self-registration stations. Overall Rating
Cunard is one of only two (out of 18) campgrounds in the Northern Highlands American Legion state forest that are designated "Quiet" - absolutely NO generators or ANY other "noise producing devices". This includes (but is not limited to) radios, TV's, video games, and musical instruments. As with any of Wisconsin's state campgrounds, "unreasonably loud, profane, or boisterous" conduct which interferes with another person's enjoyment of the property is not tolerated. Therefore, Cunard has become a favorite of campers wishing to enjoy a more peaceful Northwoods experience! The little lake is electric motors only and a favorite for paddlers. Tents and RVs alike are welcome, and there are several walk-in sites. Pit toilets only (and could use updating) and two hand pumps for water. Dogs are welcome but prohibited on the swimming beach so the boat landing and dock is a favorite spot for Fido.
The sign at the driveway is SMALL, so be watching! If you miss it, turn around at the boat landing (assuming there is no one parked there). Close enough to town for supplies. There is no firewood available for purchase in the campground. The host can give directions to whatever you need.
