We found the road up just fine. We stayed 2 nights. Enough to gold pan a little ($21/Sr) The folks are very accommodating. Our friends got the last campsite, #6. Very steep though. We stayed in overflow. $35 regular, $25 overflow). The grounds are beautiful. We also did a short hike down to the river. Brewery in town is great as is din... more

The road to this area is horrible. Very slow going and I say this after driving the Al-Can to Tok :) First, when we got there and were setting up in site 2 (#2 on the picnic table) a lady drove up and asked if we knew what site we were in. Duh! She made us turn our table around. Then she asked if we had had a fire there. We were just... more

Very slow going and I say this after driving the Al-Can to Tok :) First, when we got there and were setting up in site 2 (#2 on the picnic table) a lady drove up and asked if we knew what site we were in. Duh! She made us turn our table around. Then she asked if we had had a fire there. We were just setting up. another Duh! Site 2 is in a mud hole after the rain. Level but mud, grass made it a mess but we had good cell service.
The business is active during the day but it's nice and quiet at night. Walked the road a few times in the evenings. We tried the gold panning but just found a few flakes. My big problem was paying $25 a night for no services in the mud and then people came in and parked right next to us (not a site!) and didn't pay at all! This was when the business was open and no one said anything to them. So why bother paying when you can just come in and park anywhere for $0.

We hit this place right. There are a dozen quiet dry camping sites along the drive to the gold mine. Our Rv is 36 feet and there was plenty of room. We enjoyed the self guided tour of the historical buildings, rare mining equipment and beautiful gardens. There is amazing mountain scenery and hiking trails near by and live music and a salmon bake on Monday nights! It was delicious and the owners allowed me to harvest some of their rhubarb to make a pie.
Pot holes are real the couple miles it takes to get here from downtown Girdwood.

Enjoyed the convenience of visiting the Girdwood area while staying at this campground located at the Crow Creek Gold Mine. About a dozen sites that can fit from tents to RVs. Enjoyed the convenience of visiting the Girdwood area while staying at this campground located at the Crow Creek Gold Mine. About a dozen sites that can fit from tents to RVs. Our site was level with a picnic bench and a fire ring. Port-a-potties available at the Gold Mine parking lot along with a trailhead that leads to the tram (not operating at the time of our visit). We paid for the Gold Mine walking tour (gold panning and Salmon Bake Mondays also available if interested). Saw a fox running past our campsite. The Gold Mine attracts customers during the day but is very quiet at night. Verizon cell service available.
