Flawless free restrooms. Super clean. Close to lots of trails and beach access. Also, noise from jets was not that loud and did not bother us one bit. Will stay again!

We camped here in mid-August to enjoy the beach and relax under towering shade trees. The campground drive is paved, as is the campsite pad with electric and water hookup. Our site was very spacious and semi-private, with table and fire ring, a trash container was located nearby. Clean modern restroom with hot showers was located nearby, tokens for operating the showers are sold at the store located near the loop entrance, 4 tokens for $1.00. Easy access to two beaches and nice trails located at the campground. There is some daytime noise from a nearby Airport, but it's not to frequent or bothersome.

Live about an hour away. This is a beautiful campground. Loop road can be tricky to navigate, narrow, windy with 200+ YO Douglas Fir trees next to the road. Some campers park encroaching the roadway making the access tighter. Can hear Navy traffic from the Naval Air Station. Our cheap price reflects a State Senior Limited Income Pass.

All other positive reviews confirmed during our stay. No Navy jets the night we were here. Nice hikes as well as beautiful location. Recommend the outer sites close to the North Beach access. Remember to get shower tokens at the store before entering campsite area. Also recommend a drive up Mt Erie prior on way to/from camp.

We spent two nights in site 49 the past weekend.
The good:
- location! amazing location with great scenery and views.
- great programs for kids and adults
- a great location for exploring Whidbey Island.
-some sites with lots of privacy and space
The things to consider:
-noise from aircraft is there, however, for us, the few planes that we did hear were not disruptive.
-choose your site wisely - some have uneven pads and the driveways can be a bit hard to navigate with larger rigs also some are quite close to your neighbor.
-site 49 is one of the few sites that are close to the highway and highway noise was constant. We loved our site itself but not the noise.
-we had a large group show up at the site beside us the second night. They were very loud until after 1:30am and no one seemed to come by to stop it.
Summary:
Amazing location! Amazing scenery! Great programs! A gem of a state park. Just choose your site wisely in terms of location within the park and be sure to check the individual site photos to make sure the site will be suitable for your needs. The lower down in the loops to the lake you are the quieter site you should have from hwy noise.

I can't even. It's 9PM and the fighter jets have been SCREAMING over my camp since I got here at 2PM. Ok - I get it, it's close to Whidby Naval Air Station and the website warns that there 'may be jet noise,' but this is RIDICULOUS. I feel like i'm in an active war zone with air strikes coming in every 10 minutes. When I checked in, I thought 'wow, it's so beautiful, I'll stay an extra day,' and paid for it. But no way I can stay - how can anyone sleep around here? I called the park to change to a different Washington State Park for tomorrow night, but Jason Armstrong, the park manager, refused. The website does say 'there may be jet noise,' but it also says 'we do our best to inform guests when that is,' and while I had a lovely chat with the ranger at the gate, they neglected to inform me of this. Mr. Armstrong couldn't have cared less about my concerns. I'm sure it's because he gets calls every day about this. If you're a combat vet who has PTSD from an air strike, be warned... you may spend your leisure time hunkered down under the truck. I'm leaving $35 reservation tomorrow and walking away. This place is beautiful, but unbearable.

We enjoyed our time at Deception Pass campground! We stayed at site 215, and if you like privacy we found this particular site extremely private. There was also a little “tunnel” made from the bushes and trees between our site and the site before ours (213?) so if you are camping with another family that has kids, they can pass back and forth easily. But the whole site is surrounded by thimbleberry bushes, so it’s pretty private! There are a lot of sites here, so it’s not quite. But it has great access to 2 great beaches and various hiking trails. The Junior ranger program daily at 3:30 was great, and my son loved it. 215 had 2 trees which allowed for 1 hammock in it. The bathrooms are nearby but the toilet is like 3 feet off the ground, so kids need help getting on them. Full cell phone service! I was disappointed to learn that the coffee cart is only open on the weekends.

We spent 3 nights at Deception Pass State Park in the Forest Loop, site 34. We really loved this pull through site. It was level and spacious. Pretty good privacy and a nice location. We were able to work via our Verizon hot spot. Lots of good trails that were not super long for our small dog. We did drive into Oak harbor one day and ate lunch at Seabolts Smokehouse. Excellent fish and chips. We also stopped at The Farm Stand for strawberries. Their ice cream was amazing. The Farm Stand is right under the flight path for aircraft at Whidbey Naval Air Station so fun to watch the planes while enjoying ice cream at a picnic table.
You will have noise from the aircraft while at the campground. This really did not bother us, but I know some may not like the noise. Mostly during the day. We did not hear the aircraft at night.
Since this is about 90 minutes from our house, we will definitely return for another stay in the future.

It’s a pretty short walk to the beach which is beautiful! Lots of folks walk down for sunset. We even used the dump station on exit and it was very clean. The two downsides were (1) our site was not level at all, although other sites looked a lot better, and (2) the jet noise!!! It wasn’t bad on the weekend, but on Friday morning, we had to hunker down in the RV with fans running to calm our dogs. We almost left after one night!
