We just needed a spot to stop on our way to Texas. Very glad we found this place. Very nice, clean and picturesque. Water spigot was available but we did not need it. We will be back when we can stay longer.

Vault toilets, not the cleanest I’ve seen but it is a free site! Forest service ranger stopped by one day to clean up, and was very nice. The lake is absolutely beautiful - fairly busy with boats even in February. Swimming is not allowed. Nice secluded place, some other campers were there with us. It’s about a 40 minute drive to the closest “big” city (Ruston). Definitely would stay again!

We stayed here 12/13–16/2022. RV pads suited for smaller rigs, but mid-size to 40' rigs can fit in the north end site (with tail beyond pad) and the middle alongside pad (nearest toilet house) with some maneuvering. Campground is adjacent to Recreation Area with boat launch and pier, fishing pier, picnic area with pavilion, and restrooms. 1 bar Visible (Verizon) increase to 2 & 3 bars with weBoost.

Listed as a "Hunters Camp" We arrived between seasons and were the only ones there. Occasional traffic to the boat launch. No swimming, alligators! Plenty of fresh water.

Driving truck with 15 ft teardrop, road in is paved with clear signage.
We arrived at dark and alone, happy with the facilities (vault toilets, trash cans, and water spigots).
Shortly after we arrived a father/son tent camped nearby.
We did hear gunshots in the morning, but didn’t bother us or my dog who is typically very gun-shy.

As many have said, this seems to be a popular camp for hunters. There were only two other campsites being used when I arrived. I met two brothers that were camping nearby who were very friendly and said they plan to stay for several weeks while hunting for squirrels until deer season started.
I did hear quite a few gunshots in the morning, but they seemed to be pretty far off.
Otherwise, it was very quiet and full of beautiful natural sights.

We enjoyed our stay at this campground.
Pros:
1. Had bear-safe trash cans.
2. Running water spicket.
3. Campsites right by the water. We were able to launch our kayak from our spot.
4. Quiet area. There were only a couple other campers and they kept to themselves.
Cons:
1. The bathroom had no running water and was not much more then a glorified portapotty. We had our own toilet so it did not impact our trip much though.
2. LOTS OF BUGS AND ANTS but there aren’t many campsites where you don’t find that.
3. Close to the road, but there wasn’t much traffic.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay. You can’t ask for much more, especially from a free campsite. We would definitely stay again.

Surrounded by tall, mature oak and pine. The place is well shaded. Paved road all the way to campground and paved pads. Most pads are only about 14 to 20ft long. Some are double. No pull through.

100% free, quiet, and great views. Many sites have free water. Not sure if potable so use a filter to be safe. We were in a 27’ class C and had plenty of room to drive in and out, and explore the rest of the recreational area.
