“Some nice sites but there is a burn scar”

Overall Rating

The road back is maintained by washboard. Take it slow.

Google maps has a marker noting "the best Big Lake camping spot" along this road. While the site itself is large, it is in the middle of the burn scar so its not the best anymore. Based on the satellite images this burn occurred only at the camping site as a reminder to not leave fire unattended.

There are much better sites along this road. Once you pass FR 249C you will cross an open field with a road to your left. This leads to some nice grassy campsites perfect for solar or Starlink users. Once you pass the trailhead you will find multiple sites on the left and right side of the road. These sites are suitable for most rigs and have quite a bit of sun. Some are in open fields.
