We arrived on Sunday August 1, and had our pick of sites in A loop. Water spigots are located every few sites for easy access. Some have hose connectors some do not. There is a dump station outside the park across from the day access entrance. It’s $5 to dump, camp host will unlock and even assist. Cost was $15 with senior park pass. Easy access to the lake for swimming boating or fishing. No cell service. We’ll be back again to stay.

I made a reservation for two nights and I wish I had reserved more. The campground is divided into two loops. The A loop as of June 2021 was first come, first served, and the B loop was all reservations. We were there mid-week, so I have no idea what weekends are like, but while we were there in the second week of July, the first come, first served section was at best half full. The reserved section was fully reserved, although several reservations were no shows. The campsites are far enough apart to have some privacy, and the surrounding rain forest is fairly dense. There are no showers, but flush toilets and fairly clean restrooms. The forest is great and there is a beautiful lake with stunning views and numerous accessible trails. I hope we get the opportunity to go back. To get there from 12 you need to take a winding two lane road for almost 40 miles, and we lost cell service around mile 10, but the road was well-paved and not difficult driving. The turn offs for the campground were well-marked.

Site #7 was super long and wide enough for our rig, great big fire pit and table. Trash cans onsite (kindof not pretty but at least they're there).
Beautiful old-growth forests, tons of nooks and crannies to explore. Close walk (10min) to the Lake Wynoochee, which is more of a dam than anything, but still nice to look at.
Camp Host and family have been here for 15 years. They sell ice and firewood.

Coho Campground, Grays Harbor Co. When was the last time anybody drove up to the Wynoochoo Dam? Remember the miles and miles of gravel road? “We didn't make it to the campground as Google Maps directed us up a terrible road and we gave up”
noted 7/23/2024
We were coming from the west, on highway 101, and Google Maps (along with signs along 101 for Wynoochee Lake) directed us onto Donkey Creek Road (National Forest Road 22). The campground is 23 miles up this road. It wasn't obvious that there was another way there. DON'T TAKE THIS ROAD UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! We were in a 23 foot class C RV with AWD (a Winnebago EKKO). The first 10 miles were fine, then the road narrows down to one car width, the pavement starts disappearing, with lots of large pot holes, then turns into gravel, with mine fields of pot holes. We crawled through many sections, as many of the pot holes were not avoidable. After seven miles of this, we had enough. The campground was still seven miles away. There was a little spur road which gave us an opportunity to turn around. We cut our losses and crawled back out the seven miles. Our nerves were shot and we were concerned about the wear and tear on our RV. We pulled into an RV park in Humptulilps and grabbed their last available RV site. We then booked the following three nights at Potlatch State Park, further down the highway. When we went to recreation.gov to cancel our Coho reservation, it won't let you on your arrival day. Recreation.gov said it was up to the local operators at that point. So we emailed the email address listed on the National Forest site. They replied and informed us of better routes to get to the campground, up Wynoochee Valley Road. They also said I would have to cancel the reservation on recreation.gov (which we couldn't do). At this point, we already had reservations elsewhere, so we just ate the $90 and couldn't free up the site for others to use.

Wynoochee Lake The Wynoochee Lake area is just 60 miles from where we live so it is an area we have camped many times. When we started camping in this area a majority of the road to get there...
