Surprisingly we were able to snag a spot. There aren’t very many, and most of them were filled with people who looked like they were permanent campers.
That being said the sites are right off the road, which is a paved road to all the houses.
Surprising in the evenings it gets extremely quiet.
Locals driving by we’re friendly and waved.
Just know it’s not 100% secluded.
Kayaks would be a great plus.
There was a bit of trash in our fire pit but we easily cleaned it up in grocery bag. Pay it forward.

The Allegheny National Forest has 17 designated sites stretched along 15 miles of the Clarion River and 9 along Millstone Creek. We have stayed at several in both locations. Most can handle small rv’s, and a few can handle any size rig. Parking is on gravel and is not level at most sites. Sites are mostly intended for tent camping. The sites are heavily used from April until October and are full most weekends. The best chance at getting a site is on Wednesday. There are several vault toilets, but this is a leave no trace area, so plan to pack out what you bring. This is a popular area because the Clarion River is a treasure. Weekdays are quiet and it is easy to enjoy some solitude. The river is best enjoyed by kayak and we often see eagles, otters, turkeys, and deer.
No cell service in the river valley and it is at least 10 miles to find a store or gas station.
