What about the barh/shower facilities? Older I'm sure, but are they well kept and us there a bench, hooks etc?

The campground road is gravel and well-maintained. The campsites are cement and #20 is a level pull through with a great view of the river, large hardwoods, and Spanish moss draped on the trees. We were here in early March and there were very few mosquitos. There were only a few other campers and it seemed as though we had the place to ourselves. We saw several Bald Eagles, a large flock of cormorants, and Egrets on the river.

Pros:
+ beautiful natural campground. If you enjoy being surrounded by nature rather than a trailer park, this is your place.
+ sites right on the lake
+ pull through & paved sites available (check the map)
+ very quiet. Fewer guests means you will enjoy the natural beauty undisturbed by your neighbors.
+ Great place for fishermen. Lots of fish in the lake. There are boat docks right by the camp site. Also a Fish cleaning station.
+ reasonable prices, clean facilities
+ friendly camp host
Cons:
- This campground is *off the beaten path* Let me emphasize that - you are 1 hour from a Walmart.
- Access to the campsite involves a narrow, dirt road. It’s not difficult when dry but I’d imagine it could be a problem when wet/muddy.
- Cell service for Verizon ranges from sketchy to non-existent. I use a WeBoost cell booster and I lost signal at points.
- No service for T-Mobile. Zero, nada.
- Heavy tree cover interferes with sat antenna reception. This means you won’t get many TV channels on your receiver and Starlink will not work.
- There are alligators in the lake. I even saw one on land. It ran away from me but still … watch your kids and your pets! Don’t wander near the lake shore at dusk or at night.
*** Pro Tip: if you can get site 15, it comes with a boat dock. I set up my Starlink on the dock dock, weighted with sand bags, and it got a clean shot. Only place that could happen.***

Don't let the dirt road leading to the campground deter you from staying here. It really is awesome. The restrooms are clean, the laundry facility is pretty good, and the camphosts are super nice.
Cell phone service is spotty, but actually not terrible when you find a signal.
Get a spot next to the water! It's gorgeous!!

My price was senior rate. The campground is beautiful. Sites are spacious. No FHU but dump station. Getting to the campground was on a long narrow dirt road. Our site was on the river. All back in but plenty of room. I’m sure the fishing is great. Lots of open communal space. Just not on your way for sure. We were just going back roads to avoid Dallas and Baton Rouge.
