Wifi has 3 bars. The site fee is $44 before discounts plus fees and taxes. This is our second trip here. We are camping in a travel trailer.

Our friends stayed in a cabin with burned out light bulbs (staff had no replacements) and dirty stove burners, some of which did not function. The cpground showed no signs of a working host as grills s d firepots had not been cleaned, and litter was visible. The park seems most popular with mountain bike enthusiasts.

We have stayed at two Alabama state parks and have been impressed with the facilities. With full hook-ups we have not had to use the bath houses so can't comment on those. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are paved and in fairly good condition but too narrow for two large rigs to meet.
Our site, 29, was a pull through that was plenty long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp, water and sewer only) were to the left side. Distancing is not bad for a rural park. Some sites had a vegetation privacy barrier. Each site has a table and a fire pit. Our site was flat and even but sadly had only a very thin a sparse bit of gravel and a bit of rain fell during our stay which turned our site into a mud pit. The mud was sticky and slippery. It was impossible not to track it into our motor home. Overall the park was clean and well groomed and it appeared other sites were better able to withstand the rain than ours.
There is no park included wifi. The cable TV worked adequately.. We did find some OTA channels as well. Satellite might be difficult. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean and modern.
There are trails from in the park as well as a lake for fishing and swimming.
There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be an okay overnighter. We paid $34.17 per night plus a one time $5.00 booking fee and we feel we received fair value. We will be back if in the area again but at a different site. Two points lost for all of the mud that was dragged into our coach.

On the way down to the beach we stayed directly across the highway from this park at a commercial campground. It was not nearly as nice as Chewacla and cost more than twice what Chewacla does.y

Everything here is super outdated. Playground equipment is falling apart and looks unsafe. Facilities are very old- has a washer dryer but are so old the dryer had to be run twice on high heat (but only a dollar each time). Buildings all around the park are falling apart and just creepy. But all the trails are amazing and well kept- clearly that’s where all the money goes. They have an awesome trail map- weirdly they don’t list any distances on them though. Lots of areas to wander in.

Stayed for 2 nights but didn't get to enjoy the hiking/mountain biking trails. For a somewhat urban park it is quiet especially if it is not a weekend. I stayed after the official football season but I still had to stay for 2 nights (weekend). I am not sure if I love the weekends because on a Sunday when I arrived it was a bit hectic but Monday was much better. I will be back so that i can mountain bike or hike the trails which seem great. Also cheaper if you stay the week or the month. This is my first Alabama SP but they offer monthly rates which some campers were utilizing.
