There is a current logging project that blocks the big open area of camping that other reviewers have talked about. On the other side there are four spots you could squeeze some rigs into. I'm not sure how long the logging project will be in full force, but I can't imagine it will be finished until the end of this season. They usually come in the morning, transport a few logs, and return the next day.
Starlink was spotty but there seem to be alright solar.

Just outside the Kings Canyon National Park boundary. Only one spot with a fire pit and table, but across the road is a spacious area for to park and camp. There were 2 vans and 1 car camping in that area when we went and had plenty of space. Road was pretty bumpy getting in but made it there just fine.

The whole "Cherry Gap" area is free to camp anywhere you find space to park and set up camp. There is a dedicated fire pit on a pretty big lot but it's usually taken but if you're traveling in anything smaller than an RV you can keep going until you find the perfect spot for you. The road is narrow and in certain areas you will need to back up if another car is coming your way but it didn't happen while I was out there. Cherry Gap is a great place for your dogs to explore and run around as there's not a lot of people. There was a small amount of trash left over from whoever was camping before us but I picked it up right away. At night you hear all the critters in the forest and the hikes are great! Overall I would come back and camp here time and time again.

We parked to the right when you first get into the opening. There was a picnic table and handmade fire ring. There are more spots if you continue down the road straight. Whatever you do, DO NOT go to the road that is to the left as you entire the clearing. Three cars got stuck just in the time we were there.
We stayed for two weeks and it was lovely. Beautiful sunsets, places to walk and quiet. Close to so many places in the park. Hume lake was a great place to swim (20 mins) and the park welcome center with mini grocery store was only 10 minutes down the road. All other towns outside the park are about 1 hr since you have to travel down the entire mountain which takes awhile.
Fast Verizon with our booster. Slow without booster but we still had service to talk/text. No T-mobile service (anywhere in the park really).

We just spent two nights at this site in our 38’ 5th wheel. We arrived late so stayed at the large clearing right as you enter. There was room for 3-5 large rigs in this clearing. There were also several more sites further down the road which offered more privacy although only a couple of them seemed appropriate for larger campers. They were also more in the trees so not great if you rely on solar. During our stay there was only one other camper and a couple tent campers. As mentioned in earlier reviews the road into this site is narrow and would be an issue if you came across someone going the other way. It is only about 3/4 of a mile and there was maybe one place that two campers might be able to pass. That being said it is not a highly used road and we had no problems during our stay. We had two bars of Verizon and reliable but slow (3 down, 1 up) data rates but it was usable. T-mobile has no service.

Quiet sites nestled in the trees along a lumber road. The drive into the sites is along the mountain ridge and the road is narrow but rather smooth. We made sure when we left that no one was coming in. That could pose a real problem with one or the other having to back up.

If only I had good Verizon signal here, I would have stayed well more than one single night! It's a beautiful little spot with amazing access to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Unless there's some hidden route to this, however, the only way to get here is to pay admission to one of those parks, as it is almost within Kings Canyon.
I only noticed one true site here while I was there, which had a table and fire ring. I picked up a few napkins lying on the ground, but the area was otherwise very clean. It is a dirt road in, but really isn't too bad; a bit too narrow for two vehicles going opposite directions, but otherwise not bad at all.
As for the cell service: I was able to get 1 bar of Verizon LTE for maybe one minute at a time. This would always either drop to 1 or 2 bars of 3G for maybe one more minute, if I was very lucky at that moment. I did get consistent voice service, so I was able to make a couple of phone calls, which were clear and didn't drop. My cell booster didn't seem to do much of anything at this spot. On a side note about that: the Kings Canyon Visitor Center is just down the road, and I got good Verizon signal there, so that is a potential option to prolong a stay at this beautiful spot!
