There is new wood "frames" around the sites and new gravel inside the frames. There was a stack of wood for the frames past site #12, so looks like they will be doing more of them. Site #11 is set up differently than when we were there two years ago. Better for small RVs, vans or tents. Site 7 was great! Just leveled on one side. Sites 8 & 9 have been re-done too and look decent. Not for super long RVs as they do slope down a little. On this visit, I think we liked 9 & 12 the best. Bathhouse was clean and newish - great hot water in the shower! Camphosts were awesome - rangers & service staff I chatted with were too. And we saw a beaver!!! Awesome little campground!

This was our maiden voyage / shake-down trip in our new Imagine XLS 17MKE - we weren't 100% set up so wanted to do a shortish trip from my brother's house in Charlotte, NC. We somehow got lucky and got site #11 - lakeside, prime spot! The camp host said someone must have cancelled... used a couple of blocks on the starboard side to level and our aft end was hanging over the edge, so not easy to climb up the ladder on the back to clear pine needles from the slide. I think the best sites are 11 & 12. The people in 7 & 8 said they had a hard time getting level. Super pretty - loved the boardwalk trail and the day use area was very nice! Camp host also said site #11 was going to be closed for a bit early 2022 for some repairs. Great little campground overlooking Lake Juniper!

We've visited this campground for three successive years, and will be back. The weather wasn't very good on this stay, but it didn't matter since the waterfront view is so relaxing. It was also cooler than normal, which was welcome. This campground is a gem, especially during the week when it's so quiet.

We loved our time at Cheraw State Park. My husband and I played golf at the golf course and it is very well kept. We had a partial view of the lake. There were walking trails, a beach, kayak and other boat rentals. Would definitely recommend for the water views.

Beautiful small park, all sites are tucked in beside a lovely lake. The camp hosts maintain the sites very well. Sites are level and shaded, most have sufficient tree screening for privacy. The little town of Cheraw has a great self guided walking tour of the historic section. We spent a lovely morning exploring. We’ll definitely be back!

Small little campground - which is good and bad. Bad because it’s hard to get into. Make sure you bring your kayaks or canoes. Beautiful lake juniper with lily pads and cypress trees to meander through. Absolutely loved this place!!

That side also has a swim beach, kayak rentals, and the park office. You can take a very pleasant walk around the end of the lake, over the dam, and down the boardwalk to reach this public area. This was our second trip to Cheraw, and we'll return again.

The Good: Great board walk and trail around lake and great access to water especially if you have a kayak or boat. Very shady so summer camping might be nice. Good access to bathhouse though the internal temp was cool. Showers looked clean though we can't swear to the pressure as we didn't use them. There seemed to be kayak ad canon rentals here but because of the weather, were closed. Park store is nice and nice to walk to.
The Bad: Sites are gravel and a bit cruddy. Drainage can be a problem with some as we witnessed during and overnight rain storm. Granted, the ground was pretty well saturated form previous rains. The site is shady and was pretty dark. If you like the sun, there are very limited choices for sites in that regard.
Phone coverage was acceptable with Verizon.
