The campground is a little difficult to get to but once here it’s quite lovely. Sites are nice sized with trees separating most sites. Trails run right off the campground so driving isn’t necessary. Park rangers are consistently around so not much problem with campers. Campground quieted down nicely during quiet hours. We camped with our dog and there were plenty of waste disposal stations. And the best part (as a tent camper) was the bathrooms. They were so CLEAN! It was absolutely amazing.

No check-in with reservations, just go right to your site. Most sites are 30 or 50 amp, we had a new pedestal. They are constantly replacing old picnic tables and fire rings, ours were almost brand new. Sites are pretty level, bathhouses were clean and had hot water. Sites are well spaced, most sites have woods on one or both sides
State park officers patrol the area closely and stop any bad behavior. Limited to one car per site (it is enforced) but there is a parking lot close by. No alcohol but only enforced if there is a problem or flagrant violations.
Lots of hiking, you can go for miles on State Game Lands 29 road. Nice trail on the upper side going across a swinging bridge. Nice beach but water is cold. Good trout fishing. Lots of deer in the area. Water available at multiple locations within the campground. Dump station was serviceable.
Chapman Dam is about 5 miles from the small town of Clarendon (one small grocery store, closed on Sunday) and about 10 miles from Warren, with a large Tops grocery.
No AT&T cell service (Had to go to Clarendon for service) and no HDTV stations.

Well run state campground. We were in site 1 with a 40 ft mh. We pulled in instead of backed in. I spent much of my time wandering the trails. All the trails are well marked. The park ranger was great. He was helpful and friendly. We were there early September and the weather was perfect.

There is construction going on and the beach is closed, but I’m sure it’s even more beautiful when there isn’t construction. The sites are gravel and it rained before we got there so it was a little muddy. There is only electric at the site, but dump and fresh water is available. Just down the road is a fresh water spring that the local all use. It was super cold and refreshing so bring a few bottles to fill.
