This is a dead end loop on road to trailhead in a residential neighborhood. May be fine for a tent camper but not ideal for an RV. Did not stay.

I wish I hadn't taken the other reviews I found on this site and others too seriously. Yes, it isn't the dream BLM camping with generous wide open spaces, but it is still free camping in a great forest right in the heart of Ruidoso! The road is Very easy to access and pretty much all paved/gravel. You won't be too far from BLM / Nation... more
I wish I hadn't taken the other reviews I found on this site and others too seriously. Yes, it isn't the dream BLM camping with generous wide open spaces, but it is still free camping in a great forest right in the heart of Ruidoso! The road is Very easy to access and pretty much all paved/gravel. You won't be too far from BLM / National Forest offices (which always adds a nice layer of safety for me.) For me, I don't mind camping in a smaller area when it is so very close to some great trails. For some others, maybe they want the vast wide open space for a camping venture, possibly in their big rigs, and understandably so. It all depends on what you want.
You will drive straight down this road until the very end. If you plan on hanging out in Ruidoso, this is definitely the closest BLM campsite in town. Better yet, the Cedar Creek Trail system is Rad. If you ride, definitely stop by. The downhill track they made is So Fudging Smooth with Massive Flow. Really nice area to explore with your dog(s.) Not too much noise as the road is not too heavily trafficked.

This spot is a loop at the dead end of a residential road. There aren't any actual "sites" to pull off into, so it's just boondocking on the road. Smaller rigs (van, small travel trailers, truck campers) could easily fit and not be in the way. Our rig would've fit, but we probably would've blocked most of the road. There's not a drop o... more
