A surprising gem discovery! We are always looking for RV camping like this one—not side-by-side, plenty of space and privacy. The price is about half of you’re residents of Nevada. These were great sites—many had good tree shade, with ramadas and picnic tables as well. We really loved exploring the geology slots (and loved telling our friends we were “in Nevada playing a different kind of slots”). Go see for yourself. It’s a fun and wonderful place to explore.

Spent 3 days here on our first outing with the Micro Minnie 2108DS. 30amp electrical, and the water was close to the site, but no sewer. Site 7 was a bit too tight for a trailer and tow vehicle, so we had to park across the front partly in the road. The campground has abundant shade, and the restrooms are clean with hot showers. Wifi is available but it's Viasat so pretty expensive. We just used our phones and had no difficulty streaming Youtube or Netflix on Verizon. The campground is an easy walk to the slot canyons and caves that make this park famous. If you're into stargazing (particularly astrophotography), the night skies are phenomenal! The Milky Way was so bright it cast visible shadows on the ground.

We rolled in at about 3pm on a Wednesday in mid-May. There were three sites still available at that hour. We had a site with 30/50A electrical service but no other hookups. A free (for campers) dump station is less than a mile from the campground.

Realizing we had no plan B and unfamiliar with the location, I called the headquarters (located at Cathedral Gorge) and left a message regarding availability. Never received a call back. I arrived here on Labor Day, and since it was a "no reservations" campground, I had a list of back-up locations in case it was full. It turned out to be half empty, but it did fill up during the following week, with people arriving by 10am each day. If it is full, there is an "overflow camping" sign pointing left towards the CCC water tower as you make your way out.
The price was $15 per night, with an optional $10 extra for the electrical hookup, to be paid by cash or check in the iron ranger. I was surprised at the owners of expensive RVs who were too tight to pay the $10, and ran their generators at all hours with complete disregard for quiet time. There were threaded, high pressure water spigots around the campground, and at the dump station.
I had site 1, with a perfect view across the canyon to the cathedral spires on the opposite wall. The campground was spotlessly clean, and a worker came around daily to check and rake the vacated sites.
Verizon 4G was 2 bars, -103 dB, less than 1 Mbps down or up.
Gas was available at a reasonable price on the highway just south of the park. The grocery store in Panaca had very limited stuff, so come fully stocked.

Camping is only $15 but for an additional $10 you can use the power. There was water available and air channels were available for TV. 2 showers were available at $.25 per 5 minutes of water. Wife at different speeds was also available for a price list.

The campground is well kept and spaces are large. Though there is not much privacy given the lack of visual blocks between the campsites. I had challenges with noise from other campers at 2 am, and, then again another camper leaving his noisy car running in the night and shining his headlights right into my camper. So the experience may be challenging depending on your neighbors.
I would not recommend coming on a windy day. It’s already somewhat windy, and adding more makes being outside a bit unbearable.
Cathedral Gorge may be done in one day. It’s beautiful, but not large.
The bathroom facilities are clean. Shower is quite good.
Firewood is available on site - $5 for a load in your arms.

we noticed a major, major problem.
We noticed both trips, here, really foul air in the Mornings. Then it was for 24 hours. The skies are not blue, they are dull grey.
Fnally we figured it out. The pollution from Las Vegas : 2 + hours away, is blowing directly here! And
it's constantly blowing in, with a strong wind. Same direction winds from South West.
We pulled air cleaners from storage - that we normally only use in polluted cities. The air cleaners
automatically went to the dirtiest air settings!
We were miserable here. Too bad, this seems to be what we are seeing in many Western campgrounds, the increasing polluting of America! With no end in site.
