Some of the trailers were pure trash, their appears to be no host, other trailers were obviously just left there so maximum stay is a joke. The sites weren’t very level, it looked less than tended to, the garbage was overflowing when I arrived. Park itself was nice enough. Definitely not worth the $45!!

We were in site 38 (open side of campground) for 8 days. Our site was deceptively unlevel, where our front wheels ended up an inch or so off of the ground. We saw a few others that way too. The sites in treed part are rather close together and irregular in length, some very short, but the current reservation system is wonky and doesn’t list the site lengths. The open side of the campground is basically a gravel over asphalt parking lot, but the sites are bigger and do also have FHUs despite a previous review to the contrary. The park itself is nice, with playgrounds, a large open central area with several soccer fields and quite a few trails to hike. The park does get rather busy on the weekends and unfortunately there was a lot of colored eggshells all around the park, likely from some large Easter event they had there. There were about a dozen deer that frequented the open areas at night and we could hear a couple of coyote packs off in the distance. The park director, Devin, and staff were very friendly and helpful. AT&T coverage was ok, generally between 2-3 bars of LTE service, with speeds up to about 1.5 MB/s. Unfortunately, even though the WiFi had been recently upgraded, it was effectively useless, we couldn’t make a connection to several of the 6 routers and got next to zero throughput on the 2 we could. The park director said he hopes to upgrade to fiber at some point in the future, but said there was very little of it in the area, so it might take a while to get it. Since there were no trees on the open side, satellite coverage was not an issue, so we didn’t try to get any OTA channels.
There is a nice restaurant, Hillside Texas Bistro, just a mile down the road.

I reserved this place months in advance and given the book of rules (which included, working vehicle, can't stay longer then 6 months, and a long list of others) we thought this would be a great spot.
We were originally given site 40 (which is outside of the "gated" campground area and the only place I'd want to stay). Then right before we arrived our site was switched to #33. We pulled up on a Saturday and the office was closed. The signs are not super clear on how to get to the rv park, so we parked and walked down first to make sure we weren't gonna get in a bad situation. We walked to site 40 and sure enough, it was taken. We walked into the gated area to site 33 and it would have been nearly impossible for us to squeeze into. Plus it was in between 2 clearly full time residents with 3 screaming kids running through our site. I did not feel like I would be comfortable leaving our trailer there during the day while we went to explore.
We talked to a guy that was staying outside of the gates area (I think its #35-40? The only place I would be willing to stay) and he said he had the same issue. He said that he chose his new spot and called to tell them that he moved. We tried to call, but they are closed on the weekend and we didn't want to take someone else spot and have to move in the middle of the night.
We called all over and found a place that had openings at the last minute. Left a voicemail and an email letting them know that we would not be staying and why. Spend the extra dough and go elsewhere. This place is not what it used to be according to locals and is clearly not being monitored.

Some spots are better than others at the RV park, in space and quality. We made an online reservation for a site, but it was occupied by a long time resident when arrived. Park manager (on site) just told us to pick an open site since we were only there for a week. This scenario played out a few more times with others arriving over the week. Didn't cause any problems as choosing a site on arrival seems preferable.
Lot of people set-up here for a month or more.

Great hiking trails, swimming in the Medina river, nice running track, and a charming town you can walk to. San Antonio is only 1/2 hour away.

Located about 30 miles west of San Antonio, this campground is divided into two sections, one shaded by trees, the other not. Larger rigs tended to stay on the open side. All sites have electric and water, the shaded side sites also have sewer. They offer nightly, weekly, and monthly rates. The maximum stay is six months. We reserved through their website which was user-friendly.
We’ arrived in the early afternoon. It was easy to find using google, but some of the side streets leading to the park were pretty narrow and “treeful.” We stayed on the shaded side where we fit because site 19 is on an end. The sites are pretty close together, but not packed in like sardines. We suspect that this is a workers’ campground as some of the sites had a pretty “established” look to them.
There is an onsite laundry, (on the shaded side) very well maintained with a library. Maintenance people are around all the time keeping things tidy. The dumpster (near our site) was emptied twice during the week we were there.
While the campground is more than serviceable, the surrounding park is top-notch with a swimming pool, tennis court and numerous trails, some that rise up into the hills. (Also, a couple of historical family cemeteries, one, surely the smallest walled cemetery in the world, out in the open not far from the entrance.)
Not sure about bars, but our boosted AT&T signal was 2.63 down, 24.9 up (really); our unboosted AT&T signal (Consumer Cellular) was 18.3 down, 4.64 up; our unboosted Verizon signal was 28.9 down, 4.72 up.
As we were pulling out, Devin Fredrickson, the Castroville Parks & Rec. Director, stopped by to ask how our stay was, to mention that their facebook page has a code good for 10% on any length of stay and to tell us about upcoming activities. They are clearly invested in making sure the campground is enjoyable and it shows.

We rolled into San Antonio looking for a decent place to stay through Christmas and couldn’t find anything reasonably priced or available. We found Castroville Regional Park by chance and they had plenty of spaces available. We rolled in late at night and took the first site we could pull through which happened to be right next to the dump. It wasn’t busy in fact only 3 people dumped the entire 2 weeks we stayed.
We loved this park because it’s very family oriented. Lots of people getting out and enjoying nature as well as working out daily.
This park is flat and mainly paved with some gravel. There are 2 sides to the RV campground.
We really enjoyed the running creek and the open space to roam and ride our bikes.
We stayed at the weekly rate of $180 and we would stay again. It’s close enough to the city for our tastes but far enough away for a quiet and chill environment.
My only complaint are people allowing their dogs to just bark at anytime of day.

Just out of town , multiuse Park with community pool , ball , soccer fields. Picnic areas and separate areas for tents. Was quite , yet the RV area was rather sparse . Did have showers and a very reasonable laundromat. Was close to San Antonio and all the sites to see. Just thought it was a little pricey.
