Other sites are nearby and our site was very unlevel requiring many boards to level the RV. No dump station available. This small campground is a gem located about 25 miles outside downtown Chicago. It is located less than 10 minutes from the train that will take you into town after one transfer near Comiskey Park. We will definitely stay here again!

Good:
Location - located only 28 miles from the Chicago Navy Pier.
Lots of green space, park connects to a bike trail system.
Bad:
RV sites are poorly designed.
Sites are not level.
The electric pole is too high and prevents an rv slide from opening.
Because of this, you must park forward in the site and lose space.
The rv sites can really only handle a 25 foot rv.
The concrete posts are right in the way when backing up the rv.
The sites are barely wide enough to park your tow vehicle next to the rv.
The sites are close together.
The sites are not angled off the road, requiring 90 degree back up without space.
There is no rv water spigot or sewer at the rv site or even in the entire campground.
You must arrive with full fresh water and empty tanks.
The sites have trash, they are not cleaned.
The rv camping price is too high, given these poor conditions.
There is some noise from people drag racing on nearby streets.

It was the only option for us to visit Chicago for the weekend. Still, it’s an hour away from downtown. They do NOT have water available or a dump station despite advertising that they do. “Water” was a garden hose that an employee pulled out from the cleaning closet when we asked where the water was. The hose had holes in it, and barely trickled. So we had to fill up plastic jugs from the shower.
All garbage cans were full when we arrived. Showers and bathrooms were deplorable - had obviously not been cleaned in days. No toilet paper available for two days. They did finally clean and restock on Saturday - I guess they only do maintenance on the weekend. Hose went back into the supply closet then for all the good it did.
Employee questioned us for arriving at 1pm when check-in for the RV spots is 3pm. We had already parked in our spot since no one was there. He said that was fine. Check out is 12, no more than half the park was ever full, and no one is cleaning the sites (our fire pit was full of trash), so it makes no sense to wait until 3 to park.
I don’t remember what the nightly rate is because they never sent me any confirmation email when I booked months ago. But I can guarantee it’s too high. As it was our only option near Chicago for an RV, we made the best of it. Only reason it doesn’t get 1-star is because, as others have mentioned, there is a lot of greenery to enjoy as well as solitude.

Absolutely terrible experience! First off, we got there and the spots are tinyyyyy. We had to ask to move because they placed us in a spot that was on a slope and we would have bottomed out pulling it. We moved to another spot and BARELY could fit our class c in between the electric box and the pole on the other side. They also failed to inform us until we arrived (we booked by phone since the website wasn’t working) that their water was turned off for the season and they don’t have a dump station, so we would have to go to Bullfrog Lake for those (20 minutes away).
The best part though? We left on the second day to head into downtown Chicago and got a call at 1pm telling us they decided to close the campground and we needed to move by 3pm. Yes, IN TWO HOURS. We said that wasn’t possible because we were an hour away and they said we couldn’t stay there that night (even though we have booked and paid for it) and the gate would close at 3. We needed to move the RV to Bullfrog Lake or stay somewhere else that night because we weren’t allowed to while no employees were on the property. Absolutely ASININE. They refunded us for the second night only but they should have refunded for both and paid for a another place to stay at that point. Don’t stay here.

The other reviewers who camped here are correct about the campground's proximity to Chicago, lush greenery, incorrect directions on mapping programs. We camped here in a 35' travel trailer with 2 slides. We choose not to stay again for a few reasons: the difficulty of backing into the site and the location of the power services pole on the drivers side and an additional pole meant for tenters to hang their garbage and food bags (see photo from the camp's website) on the passenger side. We were barely able to fit between these 2 poles. We were not able to open our outside bins without closing a slide. When we asked to move to a vacant site without these issues, we were refused. The site remained empty for our entire stay. We also felt that the value for the price ($45 some nights and $60 other nights) was not good. A smaller RV would fit more easily and the benefits of the campground might outweigh the negatives. The photo of our site gives a good idea of the surrounding forest.

This is a new, extremely clean campground about 45 mins outside of Chicago. Highly recommend driving to the Chinatown “L” line, then taking the train into town. Avoids almost all of the traffic downtown.
Campsites were well spaced, but somewhat narrow. Wider rigs and rigs with slides should be careful to not hit the power pedastal. Showers were new and clean.

I came here for a weekend retreat from work and we were mistreated. I wanted to cancel before coming but was told I would not be refunded. I was told I had to come check in and stay to receive my security deposit back.
The stay to get my $200 back has been a nightmare. We ended up leaving after being threatened by the desk when we demanded the power back. Never come here.

Clean and consistent power, no issues with the power supply as in some state campgrounds. Each campsite has picnic table, fire pit and a pretty level gravel pad to park your camper on.
The sites were a decent size and are well maintained. Lots of grassy areas for kids or pets to play.
Good location and close to town with grocery store and much more.
About 30-45 minutes away from downtown Chicago depending on traffic.
Arriving is a bit tricky, take mention of getting in. The address and navigation will take you to the wrong place and you’ll be U-turning or taking a detour to get back to the entrance. The address is on Oak Park, but if you are coming down 147th Street, you need to turn right onto Oak Park instead of turning left how the road looks to turn. Entrance is not super well signed and it’s easy to miss.
