We drove past the first sets of group sites with our Jeep and teardrop, and went about a mile or so down the road. There was a large site on the left that we scouted previously that we could get into and turn around easily in. The site had two fire rings, so this site could easily accommodate two vehicles with smaller sized trailers. The road is muddy and a bit rutted, but any high clearance 2wd vehicle can make it. As you go further down the road, the sites are less desirable. The first two sites you see when you drive in off 12 are beautiful, but
too close for comfort, about 6 people would be crammed into one area. When we arrived on a Friday there wasn’t a soul in any of the other sites. We had the place to ourselves. As for the other people who complained about gun shots, this is the perfect place to have some fun with a firearm. It’s really not a big deal. That’s where you should probably go buy a gun and join in the fun.

Very clean and quiet, even with the highway being so close to the spot.

We managed to squeeze our 37 foot motorhome in a spot and had to lift one rear tire off the ground to get close to level. We need Verizon service and had three bars here. Tom Best is much larger and more suitable for everyone but once we got parked we settled for this one. Only enough room for 3-4 small trailers here in the first loop but there are more single pull-off farther down the road. We didn't want to risk rain or dead ends. Nice Hoodoos near camper and no traffic,,, no dust. Next time we'll go just down the road to Tom best and be a lot happier, leveler, and have plenty of choice's.

Three flat spots at this gem of dispersed camping where fire rings, some shade, and a backdrop of orange bluffs are available. We weren’t able to safely have a campfire as it was too windy (sw 13 mph at time of writing this) but the privacy, quiet, and views have surpassed all expectations. It’s a 20 minute drive to the park.

We pulled into the spot at night and it was still very easy to find! The terrain is not very level so it may be difficult for a big rig to level out. The site is about an hour from Zion and 15 minutes to Bryce

Camping in Red Canyon!
We stayed about 1.3 miles down the road in a spacious spot. We didn’t have any problems getting in with our 26’ TT.
The beginning of the road is across from access to a bike trail. About 20 minutes to Bryce Canyon National Park.

We got lucky and secured a site that was easy to get into and with a beautiful view of the hoodoos in mid-October.
The hardest part for us was getting off the highway. We missed Cabin Hollow Road the first time heading east on the hwy as you don't know that you are coming up on the road until you almost pass it, which we did. But, there was a turn off about 3/4 of mile up the hwy that was large enough for us to pull off and turnaround. Cabin Hollow road is best to turn off on when west bound as you don't have to cross traffic.
Once on the dirt road, you will see certain areas where others have camped. The Campendium map is accurate regarding the roads and spurs. The first such site goes off and up to the left just a few hundred yards off the hwy. Our spot was off the hwy about 1/2 mile, I would guess and straight in from the hwy, exactly where the campground symbol is on the map. Its easy to see from the road. One other spot for maybe larger rigs would be the site to the right which is next to a wash. It looked large enough to turn most rigs around, or could be used for a small group site with 2 to 3 small to medium rigs who were close.
We drove past our site to the north and west, up Cabin Hollow Road a couple of miles and saw other campsites, some better than others, and some just a wide spot in the road.
Our site wasn't level, but we found shade. Although you could see cars on the hwy from our campsite, you really could not hear them as we were far enough away.

Do I recommend this area?
Absolutely! It was a huge site, surrounded by hillsides so that we were nestled in. It was beautiful, serene, and made me feel very safe. We had a signal on one side of the RV and in random spots, but only 1-2 bars.
We made the most of it though and truly enjoyed our location.
We did not have much noise at all from passing cars. It was fairly quiet, which I loved.
The only questionable moment we had was when someone pulled into our campsite one night. We were a pretty good way back off the road, so they may have just been looking for a place to park for the night. They pulled all the way up to our RV, turned around, and left. It made me feel a little uncomfortable, but it seemed innocent enough.
We plan to return to this area in the future.
